I have a fiberglass boat with a faded, yucky green gelcoat stripe that I
want to paint.  In the past, I have painted boats with Imron but this is a
large boat and I don't have a trailer for it.  It's stored in my covered
boat house and is lifted out of the water so I can easily repaint the stripe
by "rolling and tipping".

I want the painted stripe to have the "wet" look like Imron - with the
"sparkles".  Imron doesn't seem to be a good choice because of the hazardous
vapors so I'm wondering what other choices I might have.  A local boat store
told me that Interlux had a product called Brightside that was durable and
easy to apply.  However, they told me that it would not give me the
Imron-like finish.  Can something be mixed with Brightside to produce the
"sparkles".

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can achieve the desired
"wet look" ?

TIA

When you say "sparkles" do you mean a metalflake color?  If so, I'd think
you MUST spray that.  If this area is not underwater I'd go to a "good" auto
paint supply store and see what they might have.  Also, I've sprayed Imron,
you just need the proper filter cartridges and good ventilation (like a
stand up fan set up at one end of your boat house with PE film providing an
opening only for the fan).
