Can anyone tell me the best way to repair a broken foot housing by the
impellor?  The boat runs and it doesn't seem to affect the
performance, but I'm afraid it will get worse.  Also don't want to
have to buy a new one because of the expense.

It's gonna be difficult to tell without seeing it.  Cast aluminum can
be welded but whether that'd be a good idea or not depends on the type
of  break and exact location. Check around for a welder that works
with cast aluminum and let them have a looksee.
