I looked around but I could't find any one site that listed the hidden
costs of cruising, region by region. It seems after the boat and
equipment the largest expense is permits, check in/out fees, anchoring
fees, visa charges, custom's clearance etc. Is there a comparative
list of what it costs to stay in various parts of the world from
people who have been there recently?
Can you take on food and water and just transit a place that's too
expensive? I heard of some $1300 charges and countries that want
airline ticket equivalents in cash deposits and so forth. Any
information would be appreciated.

One of the best sources is other cruisers who are actually sailing
and visiting these places. The SSCA is an association of sailors that
shares this kind of information. www.ssca.org
