Just purchased a 14'G3 1448LW jon boat that weighs 233 pounds with a
70" beam, 48" bottom width, 21" side depth and a total capacity of 820
pounds.  90% of the time the boat will carry two persons with a
combined weight of 395 pounds.  Interested in putting around small to
medium sized lakes at speeds of 1-9 mph.  Will the Yamaha 2.5 HP
four-stroke do the trick?

You're not going to get 9 mph with it.  Maybe a top speed of
closer to 5 mph.  9 mph is kinda an awkward speed.  You're
not planing (say 15 mph) yet so you're pushing a lot of water.

If you want 9 mph with 2 persons somelike a 6 HP be needed.
ANd you might as well get an 8 HP at that point (similar
wt usually cause they share a block) so you can plane!
