Quite Contrary to the idea that washing machines take a lot of space
and time; they are in fact the biggest assets a Housewife can have.
See how much time you can save when you just put in the clothes in the
fully automatic machine, put the buzzer on and do other chores of your
home. The lady of the house saves ounces of time when they put on the
task to this little Robot. Even for those, who have semi – automatic
machines, they save a lot of time while the machine does half of the
work.
Samsung, LG, Videocon, Whirlpool, Godrej are just some of the names of
top washing machines manufacturing these units in India. Factors like
Weight, Size, Capacity, Usage, Requirement, Company and Price decide
the sale of a washing machine. These are the vital factors which must
be thought upon before purchasing a washing machine. Read some books,
go through some articles and find some online shopping stores guide
like homshop18 and then decide upon which one you want to buy. As the
machine is going to stay in your home for as long as 5-10 years, it
should not be a hasty decision. Something not to regret for, later on…

Although this post has no place on this NG, the topic has some value here.
The washing and dryer was the primary driver in selecting the size of my
sailboat. As the purpose of my boat was that of a permanent home, it had to
provide, at the least, the comfort of a small apartment. Failing that, the
urge for more convenience would be a continuous undercurrent potentially
undermining my decision to live aboard.
At face value, choosing the right machines is a no-brainer, but what I found
was a whole minefield of very important considerations and no one with the
expertise to answer the questions that surfaced. I have no idea if any of
the readers of this NG have had similar experiences, but for those
considering installing these machines for on board use. Here are some
ponters.
1) Boat size. If your boat is less than 55', you probably won't have space
unless the boat is a box.
2) Amercan machines are too big, waste too much energy and water.
3) European machines are more costly than American machines, but perform
much better, fit in smaller spaces and heat their own water.
4) Never buy machines that use a drive belt, as they cannot be used when
underway. Sea motion will throw the belt. Direct motor drive is a must.
5) Top loaders will throw water everywhere.
6) Condensing driers are a must. Watch out for shallow condenser pans.
7) Avoid sophisticated electronics. Your power supply is probably
inadequate.
8) Use gravity drain to a grey water sump with an automatic pump.
There are probably other considerations that I have forgotten to list, but
if you have questions, please ask me off-line.

What was this, stolen ad copy from the 50's? Lady of the house?
Semi-automatic? How quaint. But spam nonetheless.
