Hi all,

Just got back from my holiday in Greece.... well what can I say... what an
awesome time! in the last 14 days I have been lucky enough to have mainly
Force 7/9 winds which is apparrently unheard of in this part of the world.

Unfortunately getting on the keyside was not easy as all the Flotillas
barely moved due to the high winds but anchoring in a good crosswind added
to the excitement.

Anyway loved it and looking forward to a week starting in Athens in Oct.

Sam,

How do you rate who you sailed with, and what sort of money are we
talking? My wife and I are just about to make our first flotilla
booking, and the experience of others would be beneficial.

Hi Justin,

I didn't sail with any Flotilla I went for a bareboat charter. I am sure
most the Flotillas are on a par with each other but my personal
recommendation which is based on friends & families experience with
Flotillas in the Ionian is:

www.sailingholidays.com

Sorry, Sam. I got the wrong end of the stick.

Now *that* is excellent news, that's the company that I'd narrowed it
down to through web-searching, and searching the Marine Leisure
Association. There's always some trepidation booking with a company you
know nothing of; having someone recommend a company you've already
chosen gives a bit more confidence.

Thanks for the pointer.

I don't know where you got those figures from but nobody is lucky to have ff
7,8.or 9 winds. It is normal only to add on one beaufort for the yacht club
bar. more will sound like bragging.

Anyway, sincerely glad you enjoyed yourself,

Hi Tim,

Yes totally agree in the last 7 years of sailing the North & South Ionian I
have only ever had a F7 once and it was a one off as the usual is 1-2 in the
mornings with a possible 3-4 in the afternoon if your lucky.

Unfortunately/fortunately in the last two weeks the islands have
experienced extremely high winds which as you point out is very rare. Oh and
as for the bars I can let you know that most of them are repairing their
roofs as we speak.

Regards

Sam
