| Advice re: Endurance 35 | 31 Aug 2003 23:29 GMT | 1 |
I'm looking at a 1986 Endurance 35 (De Kleer 1986, Isuzu C240 4 cyl, Borg Warner velvet drive) to buy. Anyone have any advice on this particular model in terms of weak points? Thanks in advance

| Thimbles trip | 31 Aug 2003 23:00 GMT | 17 |
Well, I must admit that I am puzzled by the whole thing. I do not believe that the trip report was written by someone who had just skippered his first 40 mile trip. The language is all wrong! For example, he mentioned the weather forecast - and yet did not mention the forecasted ...

| great lakes navigation | 31 Aug 2003 19:08 GMT | 3 |
Just wondering...on the oceans, navigators use a sextant for out of sight of land navigation. How is it done on the Great Lakes where they're not operating at sea level? Of course, I'm talking about the absenceof electronics. Anyone know of any literature on this?

| Boom tent | 31 Aug 2003 15:14 GMT | 1 |
I've just finished overhauling a Luger 16' Leeward and want to put it in the water at a friends house on a creek. It seems to me that something called a boom tent might work to keep out the elements. I'd like to get some plans on how to make and rig one including weighting it down ...

| Hurley 22 and other small yachts | 30 Aug 2003 23:36 GMT | 8 |
we are looking to buy our first boat and reduced down to a list of Jaguar 22, Hurley 22, Pandora 21, Tomahawk 25, Contessa 26. The smaller ones would probably be more convenient in terms of flexibility where we keep her - we are aiming for somewhere on the East coast

| Kubota Engine (Aaarggghhhh!) | 30 Aug 2003 21:17 GMT | 19 |
Please can anyone suggest a company/engineer/gifted child who can fix our Kubota engine? We keep our Finesse 21 at Titchmarsh Marina at Walton-on-the-Naze, and so far all the marine engine companies I've contacted have heard the word 'Kubota' and looked at me as if I should be

| Old fart still shopping | 30 Aug 2003 16:36 GMT | 2 |
I started out looking for my first cruiser in the C&C listings but got discouraged at the prices in the 30-32' range. I have come across what appear to be better values for a newbie in the form of a 30' Newport. One is for sale within 200 miles and show nice on

| Cruising tips for small yachts | 30 Aug 2003 16:32 GMT | 11 |
As we get closer to the Whale Watching Adventure Cruise I thought I would share a couple of tips that I have found handy in the past. These are simple tips that most of you probably already know, but I thought I would share them with you just in case. Perhaps if others have some ...

| Sailcomp backlighting | 30 Aug 2003 16:06 GMT | 1 |
I have a KVH Sailcomp compass with 2 displays on my boat. The displays work fine during the day but at night they are unusable. The backlight is too dim. I can see that its on but its not enough to see the numbers from more than a couple of inches way.

| trapper 28 | 30 Aug 2003 10:26 GMT | 3 |
Has anyone any experience with these - they seem to be quite fast. We are going to look at a couple but I was wondering how much work we would be letting ourselves in for as they are around late 60's and possibly seen a lot of racing use. Thanks,

By going to: http://www.ardmoreite.com/stories/061001/liv_lg_astro.shtml Ones sees that the largest privately owned telescope in the world was bought for hundreds less than Booby's toy telescope.
