Dinghies! GP14, Leader or Kestrel01 Oct 2003 00:20 GMT13
(For the record, this is an official delurk)
I'm looking to get my own boat for cruising around the UK coast,
sleeping aboard. I've been looking at boats which can be found at
around £500 second hand and I mainly expect to be single-handing. I'm

When Capt. American perdicted some asa braggard in this group would
lose his boat soon back in Aug. Do you think he was talking about
Douglas King?
Is that why he was giving Douglas those great stock tips? So he could
Another Boat show30 Sep 2003 17:53 GMT20
Maybe I found the next boat that I;d like to own.  The 44 footer looks like
a dream come true. I only saw a prototype of the 44 footer.  They didn't
have the 38' version at the show because it hasn't been built yet.  However,
these boats look like a gtrat compromise between a racer ...
How to get involved in sailing in your area30 Sep 2003 15:39 GMT2
I've had my first sailboat for about two years. By now, I can safely say
that my wife, nor any of my friends or family like sailing. But I do! And I
really don't like sailing alone. Although my boat is only a 23, it's
difficult for me to single-hand. But most of all, it's just ...
Good deal on Yanmar?30 Sep 2003 15:15 GMT1
Are there any good deals on Yanmar sailboat engines on the Internet?
Thanks,

Storm report30 Sep 2003 13:01 GMT9
OK Mooron,
How about a report from you? The TV made it look pretty bad.
How are you? How'd your boat do?

Boat Repair30 Sep 2003 09:47 GMT2
I have recently obtained a Leader II GRP dinghy. It has slight damage
to the gelcoat. What is the best way to repair it? I've considered
using Plastic Padding Gelcoat filler, but it comes in white and my hul
is Turquoise. Can this filler be coloured, and if so with what? Can
Good News for the Group!30 Sep 2003 06:16 GMT33
Doug King took his trawler right into the hurricane area
and has not been heard from since. As they say, "no news
is good news". Let's hope we never hear from DSK with
his motorboat posts ever again.

HMS Nottingham29 Sep 2003 22:18 GMT33
Yesterday's "Court Martial" hearing in relation to the accident to HMS
Nottingham off Lord Howe Island represents an almost complete whitewash, in
keeping with the attitudes in today's Royal Navy.
With so much taxpayers' money sloshing around, why bother to reprimand
Dinghy Lights ?29 Sep 2003 21:36 GMT3
Read on another group how one seemed troubled with lighting to be used on a
sailing dinghy. Having asked a few well qualified and reliable friends, many
of them concurred that an all round white light is sufficient for a sailing
dinghy. The rules however do not state that this is ...

No One Sailed But Me29 Sep 2003 18:57 GMT13
For the most part, I'm the ONLY person who sailed anywhere this summer. That
these were short 3 day trips only outlines in bold type how pathetic the rest
of the group is.
A few of you told STORIES about sailing, but I'm the only person who was
