That was close!!!!01 Oct 2004 00:57 GMT44
Went to the boat this morning to find one of the aft lines popped in the night.
Winds gusted over 40 knots last night and were still to 30 when I got there at
10:30 am. But I knew this was coming and doubled up on the lines! No problemo.
Sure is a great day to do some sailing, so ...
Catamaran expereince wanted.30 Sep 2004 18:44 GMT8
Can anyone help please:
A friend and myself are discussing whether to go for a mono-hull or a
cat for some reasonably serious long-distance sailing.
We both have lots of mono experience but none on cats.

handheld, Scotty Potty also has a VHF Base Station? Wonder which channel he

What a great day....30 Sep 2004 01:27 GMT12
Was just perfect sailing today....8-10 knots of wind and almost flat
conditions...we sailed down to just North of Grand Hven, tacked and sailed
back.....about the most catastrophic event of the day was when I went to
grab for the mooring line coming home and landed on that damn
T-Shirt: luff 'em and leave 'em29 Sep 2004 22:50 GMT5
I saw an excellent T-shirt at the weekend, but didn't get chance to ask the
wearer where she#d got it from.  It was a sail-race t-shirt with the phrase
"Luff 'em and Leave 'em" on the back.   Anyone seen this and know from
where I might aquire one?

Remember that sail/MV that J. Cousteau's son had?

Don't hate me Cuz' I'm Beautiful!!!!29 Sep 2004 12:53 GMT11
Scotty, Horvath & Loco...don't hate me because I own a better boat. Don't be
jealous that I pay no yard bills and essentially sail for free. Don't be angry
that I'll more than double my money when I move up to a bigger boat. Don't be
sad that your lives are winding down and all you ...
Newfoundland humor29 Sep 2004 12:20 GMT2
My live-aboard friends have finally lost their minds and are now wintering in
Newfoundland!  Ignoring offers of houses to stay in, they have elected to stay
on board.
So far, they have endured the remnants of Ivan - 50+ knots with gust to 85,
Capt. Neal selling his boat!?29 Sep 2004 05:38 GMT15
I've been reading this newsgroup off and on for 3 years and remember
mostly enjoyed reading Capt. Neal's posts :)  I only check this group
once a month or so and I haven't seen his name in a long time. So
imagine my surprise when browsing thru the Los Angeles (where I live)
Wiring diagram needed alternator-regulator-2 batteries29 Sep 2004 05:05 GMT8
Can anyone point me to a good wiring diagram for an alternator set up with
two batteries and the usual 1-2-Off battery switch? I know I've seen a site
somewhere giving the layout of the wires on the back of various types of
alternator but cannot find it again. Engine is a Yanmar ...
