| Buying Advice-21' San Juan | 01 Nov 2004 00:47 GMT | 3 |
My wife and I are looking for our first boat to learn to sail. We've mostly looked at MacGregors and Catalinas, but someone's selling a 21' San Juan for $1,300. The price sounds great and the boat looks good, but I haven't heard of a San Juan. I've Googled them and learned ...

| Solar panels | 31 Oct 2004 14:21 GMT | 19 |
Following on a little on the electric boats theme last week, I'm thinking of adding a solar panel to keep my two 80Ah batteries alive. The idea is I can come down for a sail with the confidence that I have a pair of pretty healthily charged batteries aboard.

| VHF Radio Licencing | 30 Oct 2004 10:27 GMT | 2 |
After all these years and having finally bought a cruiser, I suppose I'd better find out how to licence an on-board VHF radio. (I've had my licence since I was 18) Where do I go for info, applications and other details such as costs?

Kerry served in a war defending his country. Bush did not. It doesn't matter how long Kerry served or how he got out. He went into combat. Bush did not. Kerry was there and then returned to join the growing protests against the war, which is his RIGHT AS A FREE AMERICAN. No American ...

| Mooring Whips | 30 Oct 2004 02:58 GMT | 1 |
I just purchased a set of used mooring whips for my ODay 28. I don't have any instructions, and am unsure as to how to tie tie up to them. How are the whip lines afixed around the rigging, i.e., does the bow line go in front of the forestay and the stern line aft of the backstay?

Capt Neal stopped posting here when he found out he had colon cancer. Rumors that he sold Cut the Mustard were not true. The boat is on the hard somewhere. I have no idea if he is even still alive, but the cancer was far enough along that he took drastic and quick action.

My wife watched Titanic the other night, I sat down for the 'crash' scene. When they spotted the ice cube, they yelled 'hard to starboard, but it looked to me like they turned the wheel to port. Then the order 'hard to port' was given and , to me, they turned to
