Hey Donut01 Sep 2005 00:09 GMT18
boob really hates you and me because we're happy . Happy with our
boats, happy with our mates, and happy with our lives.
Would it be bragging if I told him what I paid for my boat, or yours?
Would he have a heart attack?

Anyone fancy a wee trip from Kirkcudbright to somewhere interesting

Round Bom Reefing31 Aug 2005 22:26 GMT14
I have been considering the purchase of a nice Hurley 22.  My one concern is
that she has the old 'round the boom' roller reefing for the main.  My
experience is solely with slab reefing and I have read some pretty negative
comments about the 'round the boom' system.
HELP Please.... Bubble in Compass31 Aug 2005 21:52 GMT13
My Heath Marine bulkead/binacle compass (6" diam) has developed a large
bubble in the fluid. Although it still appears to give reasonably accurate
bearing, it's clearly no longer reliable in that condition.
Can anyone advise whether it's possible to affect a diy repair to remove the
Norwalk marina31 Aug 2005 21:50 GMT12
Anyone have comments, good or bad, about Norwest Marina on Water St. in
Norwalk as a place to haul for the winter? Haven't looked at it yet--just
pulled it out of a guide and called.

Alderney race31 Aug 2005 20:10 GMT4
I came through the Alderney race last week on the flood at springs - an
interesting experience! We were coming from Dielette heading for the UK,
motoring at around 5 kts against a modest 10kt northerly breeze. Coming
abreast of Cap de Hague, our 5 kts through the water became a ...
Jesus an Sailing31 Aug 2005 16:53 GMT25
They don't mix. Belief in Jesus is a form of insanity, a seed of faith
just like the one that fuels any terrorist group. Jesus may have
existed, but was not the son of god. He was merely a guy, like any
other crazed religious maniac, who supported his beliefs with the
Ground tackle requirements?31 Aug 2005 09:07 GMT11
How much chain should I be carrying on my 34' boat for general coastal
cruising round UK and Northern France? I've got 20 metres at the moment.
Thanks for any help,

alcohol stove fuel and other questions31 Aug 2005 04:09 GMT18
I'm trying to design a yacht for my own use, and after thinking of various
means to save electrical power for more important needs, I've been toying
with the idea of using an alcohol burner stove.
One thing I've always wondered...what forms of alcohol are or have been used
New Orleans31 Aug 2005 02:54 GMT10
It's sad but it is mostly underwater. Billions will be spent drying it out.
I say leave it underwater and build a new city in a better location.
Same for beachfront property. Why does the government bail out these idiots
with beachfront property when a hurricane wipes them out? On ...
