| I still prefer single handing | 28 Feb 2006 22:20 GMT | 22 |
Went out with my wife and 9 yr old daughter today, left my 15 yr old son at home and 19 yr old daughter is off at college. Even with this few people on my 28' S2, I felt crowded and wished nobody was in my way. It didnt help when a gust caught us unexpectedly and threw us

| not a bad day | 27 Feb 2006 23:01 GMT | 15 |
Seemed odd that nobody else was out today at Shell Pt, FL. We took my 28' S2 out with anenometer reaqding about 12 kts in the canal, wind outa the North. Unfurled the jib about 75% and sailed directly downwind out to sea. Once in deep water(about a half mile out), GPS

| Anchor chain, Plymouth | 27 Feb 2006 22:42 GMT | 4 |
A few months back I found a website for a chandlery distributor selling anchor chain at about half the retail chandlers' rate. It appeared that they would sell at a counter to the public too. It was a biggish outfit, based elsewhere (maybe London area) but with a branch in what ...

| Well Done Floatything & anchors | 27 Feb 2006 22:13 GMT | 7 |
Out of interest, what are your 3 anchors? I've recently got a 60 spade to replace a 7.5 kg Bruce-copy as bower on a Solent-based Hunter 27. I'm going to get some new warp (10m chain & 45m anchorplait), and plan to use the old one (err, ~5m chain & 25m

| Floatything on the Rocks??? | 27 Feb 2006 12:40 GMT | 118 |
I got a phone call yesterday morning - Floatything had broken her mooring in strong winds and is currently 3 metres from a very hard stone wall. Hell's teeth! The call was from the mooring association (thanks Chris) who had been notified by the Modplod (marine division of the MOD ...

| Chavs (slightly off topic) | 26 Feb 2006 23:24 GMT | 12 |
Just before Christmas I managed to upset a number of URS readers with my insensitive comments about some Chav who had put Christmas lights all over his boat. Admittedly a little off topic, I offer the following 25 point recognition

| Beneteau 39', Wandering? | 26 Feb 2006 13:41 GMT | 38 |
I sailed three days this weekend on a Beneteau 39, approximately 1988 model, in winds of around 20-25kts, and I was somewhat surprised that the boat seemed to wander about from port to starboard on anything approaching a close reach. It doesn't have a full keel but does have a
