Simple quetion :  how much do sails cost ?
I'm vaguely thinking (well, dreaming more exactly) of buying a yacht in the 24
to 28 foot class for coastal cruising in the UK and I notice that after the

Winter Sun suggestions25 Jul 2009 15:53 GMT6
For various reasons (notably my aversion to the winter in general and
Christmas in particular), my partner and I want to spend the Christmas
and New Year period out of the country, somewhere sunny and warm.
Budget is a factor, but we accept that this won't be a cheap break.
Democrat's idea of a hot woman . . .24 Jul 2009 20:43 GMT18
Democrats consider this woman to be hot. They've been slobbering all over
her at the confirmation hearings:

Jupiter to turn into a new sun.23 Jul 2009 17:02 GMT29

Talk about global warming!!!  We might have just seen a reason why the
planet Jupiter might turn into a new sun. This would turn the Solar System a
binary system.
Connecting anchor chain22 Jul 2009 11:53 GMT4
Please could anyone tell me the strongest type of DIY repair link for 5/16"
galvanised anchor chain to replace the existing corroded one.   I normally
only use my manual windlass to break out the anchor so I am able to not to
use the gypsy where a joining link interferes.

Spreader tip is 2 inches too far aft20 Jul 2009 17:05 GMT12

Anchor chain, 8mm or 10mm?20 Jul 2009 17:01 GMT9
As I'm fitting an electric windlass to J this winter I will need new chiain,
presently 8mm  The question is: a 60m length of 8mm or a shorter (45-50m)
of 10mm.  60m of 10mm chain will not fit into the chain locker.
10mm is about 50% heavier per m than 8mm.
