Have been looking for years for the Glastorn Carlson 18' or 20' big block
jet, but couldn't resist this one to play with till I find the one I'm
looking for.  Brings back memories of my younger days in boating.  Mostly

What a day.. - 0730051917a.jpg (0/1)31 Jul 2005 15:34 GMT1
Well, my friend and I took his Pearson P30 out and I didn't have a
problem the whole way.  We went down the Bay from Bristol, RI, out the
East Passage without incident, out a ways into Block Island Sound,
then returned to the Bay up West Passage and returned to Bristol.
Going sailing today...31 Jul 2005 02:11 GMT4
Well, I gotta relearn the skills necessary to sail a boat, so I'm
heading out with a friend who has a Pearson P-30.
Just trying to get used to hanging the laundry out, watching for air,
handling, stuff like that. I know it's ten feet longer and a different

For those NG old timers that recall my proud boasts of Eisboch Jr.
(currently serving in the US Navy) ....
Seems his new bride is in a "family way".  This will be grandkid number 5
for Mrs. E and I.
Doral Grande 19.5'31 Jul 2005 00:18 GMT5
I am looking at a '86 of the above boat in our neighborhood that is on
sale. The boat has the OMC Cobra out drive with the 4.3l V6 engine. The
seller is asking C$8k.
Any opinion on the boat, good or bad?
Need an engine diagnosis30 Jul 2005 23:00 GMT5
I have a Merc I/O, probably about 10 years old. It has been tuned up and has
been running fine. But it tends to stall at idle speed and sometimes will
stall when you throttle back after running at speed.
Carburetor problem? Dirt in the gas? Electrical? Something  simple or should
Need your propeller opinion30 Jul 2005 22:58 GMT1
Engine 70hp Evinrude 3cyl 2stroke.
Old prop was 13.75 X 15 aluminum. With normal load the engine maxxed
out at 5000 rpm which is the redline for this motor.
I put an identical size 13.75 X 15 stainless Rapture prop on with the
New Boat Service30 Jul 2005 22:49 GMT2
I'm taking my new boat in for a 20 hour service.
Should I have them change the fluids while they have it or should I change
the fluids later per the manual?
How often do you change fluids?
newbie question about fuel usage30 Jul 2005 22:47 GMT5
I'm looking to buy a late 80's 19' runabout with a Chevy 350 motor.
Intend to tow an inflatable, cruise the lake, and occasional fishing.
How much fuel can I expect to consume cruising at 20-25 mph?  How less
fuel efficient would this boat be compared to one with a smaller
Suzuki DF15 ignition proplem30 Jul 2005 22:24 GMT2
In open sea engine misfired on both cylinders simultanously a few minutes,
and then stoppet. Impossible to start after repeated attempts.
At last it fired on one cylinder and I was able to return to safety. Next
day it started and ran normally.
taking on water?30 Jul 2005 21:59 GMT13
I have a problem which is not serious, or is it?
I recently bought a used Tidecraft center console boat, 17 feet
with a Mariner 115hp outboard.  When I take it out, it always
makes some water in the bilges.  Usually, the bilge pump gets it

Olds 455 oil filter?30 Jul 2005 05:10 GMT2
I have an olds 455 in a 1976 Keaton jet boat. The motor came from
Berkeley jet. Anyways, the manual says to use an AC PF30 filter. It
doesn't appear that filter is available. Question - what oil filter
should I use as a suitable replacement?
