Merkcruiser Winterizing31 Oct 2006 19:28 GMT1
I am more comfortable when I remove the engine block plugs and the manifold
plugs and drain the water then replace the plugs..  I have a 5 gallon bucket
that I have attached a hose fitting to.  I put in 2 gallons of antifreeze
and 2 gallons of water then run the engine with the ...

I crammed my 19' boat (3.0L alpha) into my enclosed, insulated garage.
Do I need to fully winterize it? The garage stays in the mid-50's
during the winter months. I have a trickle charger to maintain the
battery. I can also pull it out monthly and run it in the driveway at

winterizing mercruiser?31 Oct 2006 05:48 GMT12
Do I need to drain the block and hoses if I'm using one of those coolant
kits that attaches to the muffs on the outdrive?  It would appear not.
since it is sucking in the Anti Freeze and will displace any water left in
the block.  Thanks in advance.  David
Unlubberizing the Single Screw, Part III31 Oct 2006 04:18 GMT27
Here's one for the proofreaders out there. Want to make sure I didn't
get port and starboard accidentally reversed. Get a fresh cup of coffe
if inclined to wade into this. 2500 words. :-)

I'm not looking for exact, ball park will do.

How to Drill Out a Broken Bolt?30 Oct 2006 22:52 GMT95
I over-torqued four bolts in the lower unit of an outboard, and the
heads of three bolts broke off.  I managed to remove one of the broken
bolt using a Dremel tool and a diamond grind bit.  But I cannot remove
the other two broken bolts using the Dremel tool.  Based on the past
Jet ski and Parka30 Oct 2006 22:08 GMT7
As I was driving across the bridge on my way to put my pontoon boat in
storage for the Winter, this last Saturday, I looked upstream and saw two
guys on their jetskis wearing Parkas with hoods.  I mean this is Northern
Illinois, and two weeks ago the water in the river was ...

I am trying to remove the drain and fill plugs (slotted head) off my
1991 Johnson 45 HP Commercial outboard but they are seized and I have
more or less stripped the head. Can I heat the screw or will this ruin
the seal? Anyone have any ideas of how to get these screws out?
