Speaking of dirty boats24 Sep 2007 01:21 GMT78
For the first time in my memory, the town of Scituate recently instituted a
mandatory outdoor watering ban that specifically includes washing of boats
in the various marinas in town.
Use of water is authorized only to fill your fresh water tanks.  Use of

Whats the difference between Volvo and Merc?23 Sep 2007 21:42 GMT4
I was just wondering what the differnces are, if any, between these
two manufactures.
I've only had Mercruiser so have no experience with Volvo.
This question applies to both engines and legs.
USCG Search Pattern, mystery of missing professor23 Sep 2007 00:53 GMT3
Here are a couple of interesting charts showing the search pattern
flown by the USCG while looking for a missing kayaker:

Using copper piping for fuel lines23 Sep 2007 00:31 GMT13
Currently copper pipes are used for all diesel fuel lines.
I have a concern regarding their use between boat mounted fittings and
engine mounted fittings. Will the vibration of the engine cause an
eventual failure of these lines? These lines are about 2 feet long
A general commentary on "Courage"...23 Sep 2007 00:20 GMT30
This is the only newsgroup I've ever been in where a post meant to be
funny - penguin on a polar sleeping polar bear with cymbals, can turn
into a discussion about (1) penguins can't fly (2) penguins aren't
located at the North Pole (3) Pigs can't fly either.
BOWRIDERS- Pro's and cons22 Sep 2007 22:05 GMT33
I'm thinking of selling my Bayliner 2052 cuddy to buy a bowrider.I've
never had or been in one.
I was wondering the thoughts of the members here what you guys think
of bowriders.
Three Cheers for Shimano22 Sep 2007 19:29 GMT7
I have a pair of Shimano 251 baitcasters, and one of them is at least 15
years old. One of the bearings inside is getting noisy. So I sent the
reel off to Shimano in California for a redo. Got an email today...$25
for labor and $20 in parts to fix a lot of worn-out parts and a ...

Shakin' his head...22 Sep 2007 12:30 GMT30
Well, Tom came by today to take a look at an engine I am putting on.
Poor guy just stood there most of the time shakin' his head. The rest
of the time he spent chuckling and mumbling something about a "big
piece of crap":0 I am not sure if he was talking about the boat, the
Boat Trailer Towing Speed Discussion22 Sep 2007 04:57 GMT42
My assumption was that most responsible boaters tow their boats at no
more than 60-65 mph (assuming that is allowed by the speed limit), and
that only a minority of trailer boaters pull their rigs a lot faster.
My assumption was correct.
Trailer Tire Capacity22 Sep 2007 04:32 GMT39
Interesting that this topic came up as I'm preparing to trailer this
weekend. I recently had new tires installed on the trailer after having
a blowout and noticed last night that the weight capacity listed on the
tire was 1760 lbs. I have a 1996 Glastron with a 3.0 volvo penta and a
