polyester - epoxy bonding17 Jul 2003 22:11 GMT7
I have a polyester/ glass laminated part (gelcoat on one side) and I
need to repair a hole in it. In the past, Ive sanded the
glass/polyester, cleaned it up with acetone and then used west epoxy and
"boat tape" glass. The polyester part is about 4 years old.
Wanted: ~3hp short shaft outboard..running or not as long as it seems fixable17 Jul 2003 14:27 GMT1
I tried ebay, everybody thinks their outboard motor is 'Vintage', or
it's 'brand new' and thus very expensive.  I'm building an Uncle Johns
11' skiff and looking for a small motor to fixup and use..
If it can be fixed (and it worth fixing) I can do it, mostly want to
macnaughton designs?16 Jul 2003 20:43 GMT2
Hi folks, does anyone have any experience (seeing, building, sailing?)
any of Macnaughton's Coin Collection designs, especially the smaller
Farthing and Shilling designs? I'm very interested in these boats but
have not been able to track down anyone online who has built one.
RE Balcotan15 Jul 2003 23:15 GMT5
Many good long term claims for this glue, anyone used it, from what they
state its a much more acceptable glue than epoxy, we know it cannot be as
good as epoxy but is it good enough for my purpose, making up frames, and
gluing strip planks, then I will give it all a layer of epoxy,

Anyone done this or have a link for some pics?

Bolt rope track for dodger?14 Jul 2003 06:46 GMT7
Anyone know of a source for some "C-track"?  I need to decide on what I
am going to use to hold the front edge of the dodger and also the bimini
to the traveler arch.  The usuall Lift-the-Dot snaps are not as
waterproof or as strong as a bolt rope track but I have not been able ...
Weekender query13 Jul 2003 10:55 GMT4
My 12yo nephew is building a Weekender, described as a "23' gaff sloop
with a folding mast."  His query: "How do you make the mast joint
strong enough so that when you hoist the sail you mast doesn't snap at
the joint?"  Please advise.
fuel polishing help needed13 Jul 2003 06:27 GMT1
Can any of you help me locate a source for a KR12-40 fuel pump and
GulfCoast Filters?  The KR12-40 was the fuel pump highly recommended
by Belgoes Filtration.  Belgoes still has a web site at
www.fuelpolishing.com but apparently the company has ceased to exist.
Recreational power boat choice12 Jul 2003 06:22 GMT1
Hello. I am new to this group and to boat building in general. I have
read through some of the previous postings on this site to try to
gather some information. I have learned a few things, but would like
some advice as to which type of boat to build and with which
need advice repairing a waverunner fiberglass body nic12 Jul 2003 01:04 GMT1
i was wondering what kind of materials/tools will be needed to fix a
small fiberglass hole on the side of a wave runner.
the nic is about 2 inch circle and it went all the way through
fiberglass to its underlying material, so more than just painting it

Mercury 40 HP Outboard $750 in WA State10 Jul 2003 22:00 GMT1
I had lot's of calls, sold it once and it came back (the guy wrote me a bad
check). So . . Let's try this again.
Nice Mercury 2-cylinder, 40hp outboard features: electric & pull start, with
full controls (throttle, shift, key start & electric choke). This motor has
Rot Conclusion09 Jul 2003 23:33 GMT10
Well I was hoping the Timber Rot, thread would work its way up to
something useful for boat guys. Quite a few industries have
"Systems"in place - but it seems I couldn't find one for boats.
As a consultant - I track and solve problems through systems.
Using a larger jib okay?09 Jul 2003 20:37 GMT2
I have two sailboats; a fairly new 13' in good condition, and an old 15'
