What Size Motor11 Aug 2003 00:38 GMT1
First time boat owner, so I don't really know too much about them.
I just got a 1988 18 foot Falcon Striper Pro boat (fiberglass). Needs some
cleaning up, and some
work done to it, it also needs a motor and controls. My question is what
Repairing a daggerboard10 Aug 2003 22:42 GMT9
My 13' sailboat has a mahogany daggerboard.  There is a crack in it, running
about 1/3rd of the length, about 1" from the trailing edge.
It does not affect anything, but I am concerned it will crack further and
break off; so I am hoping to stabilize it to prevent that.
Volvo Penta MD110 Aug 2003 02:19 GMT4
Hi! I have an old MD1 that is leaking water(into the oil). The problem
is I don't have a clue where it leaks. Anyone that know where I should
seek, and if it's worthwhile (I already spent a week trying to locate
the fault). Otherwise, the engine is in top condition if it weren't

26" clipper sailboat09 Aug 2003 01:23 GMT7
I just purchased a 26" clipper sailboat. It is going to require a lot of
fixingup. The wood inside the fiberglass hull is going to need replacing. I
do not know how to attach wood to a fiberglass hull, what kind of wood to
use, how to sucessfully remove the interior without damaging ...

I've been building a kayak off and on since March.  I have just finished
updating my web page journal of the boat and just wanted to show it off.
This is my first boat building experience.  Let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking.
Lumpy plywood06 Aug 2003 04:18 GMT2
I have been restoring a plywood boat approx 20yrs old & have noticed a
ridge in one sheet of ply running accross the sheet in a uniform
manner. I have removed paint down to the wood & everything seems OK,
no sign of damp or delaminating.

Gelcoat/Flowcoat gloss or no gloss04 Aug 2003 14:54 GMT1
What can one add to the gelcoat/flowcoat so that once cured the
surface is more like a matt finish instead of the normal gloss finish?
I have seen this finish on a number of new boats in the cockpit and
deck areas as a way of reducing glare from the sun.
UK import duty and VAT on boat plans?04 Aug 2003 10:43 GMT2
I'm currently thinking about two possible designs for my next
boat. One of the designers is in the US (Dick Newick) and the other is
in New Zealand (Malcolm Tennant). What I don't know in my budgeting is
whether I'm going to be hit for import duty and value added tax (VAT)
