A friend put in a new Perkins M-30 with Hurth trans 2 years ago (34 ft sail) and has gone thru 4 Hurth transmissions in 700 engine hours. The M-30 engine is marinized and sold by Volvo as the 2030 with the same Hurth trans private labelled as Volvo's own.

I am trying to decide on a double ended lapstrake boat to build. I need to find some more info on rigs -- particularly the diffreence in terms of handling and sailing between gunter and standing/dipping/balanced lug. Any help or pointers to useful sources

what are the limits of plywood boats ? I am interested in kind of ultralight (25000# to 32000# light) trawler in the 42-50 feet range, of displacement type, not semi displacement. No intend to exceed hull speed. So single engine could be in 100-120 hp range.

Ok, I've seen the ClarkCraft Deckboat, the Glen-L pontoon boats, the various pontoon kit sellers, and a few "free" pontoon boat plans on the web (Pontune comes to mind)... I've used "Hulls" to analyze designs I've come up with on my own.
