I would like to build a small (6-10') wooden boat for my grandchildren and would like it to look like an old runabout with mahogany decks and such. I plan on using an electric outboard for power with shop made controls to the cockpit.

I found a small 12v DC pump and mounting bracket at a neighbourhood rummage sale for $2 in an unopend package which still had the original $45.95 price on it. I thought it was a great bargain galley pump (it says its from B&B Trailer Supplies)

Wondering if, on a 15 ft pocket solo cruiser for inland waters, the head can be located in the cabin and the holding tank ouside the cabin. The idea is to run a hose through the aft cabin bulhead and put the tank under the bench seat in the cockpit where the odour would be outside. ...

My Perkins 4-108 has a cast aluminum exhaust manifold. I have it off for inspection and pressure testing. As part of the inspection, I have remove all paint and primer to bare metal. Other than aesthetics, is there any reason to repaint.

Can someone tell me the advantages/ disadvantages of stainless steel running gear (prop, strut, shaft, and rudder). I remembered hearing that it was a no-no, but I have nothing to prove either way. A boat I test drove had this installed, and it does'nt make sense why

Need a 12 VDC potable water pump that puts out 125-150 psi at about 1 gal per min - this is low usage so cheap is good. Any suggestions.
