In the British Maritime Museum (in Greenwish, near London) they have a
sweet little 15 foot sailboat called the Dodo, initially designed by
Adam Bergius in the 1890s.  I am interested in possibly building a
replica of the Dodo and am lookng for plans.  The British Museum sent me

Bow eye repair14 Oct 2003 13:28 GMT4
I have a 73 Starcraft fiberglass boat on which the bow eye was beginning to
pull through. Upon further inspection I found that the wood on the inside of
the hull had disintegrated. I removed the fiberglass covering where the wood
used to be and removed all the wood particles. There ...

hull windage on sailboat?11 Oct 2003 14:27 GMT2
I'm playing with the design of a 15 ft solo cruising sailboat, well for
weekends and short vacations anyway. I'm trying for as much freeboard as
practial to get interior headroom, plus a small cabin. I'd like to know
how to calculate the extra sail area and lateral resistance to ...
Finally! A source for long SS bolts!11 Oct 2003 09:59 GMT8
I have spent a year now looking for 1/2 -13 x7" flat head stainless
machine screws for my stem fitting.  I have checked with every vendor
suggested here and many others with no luck.  I found them by accident
yesterday at boltdepot.com.  Not cheap but beggars can't be choosers.

Aluminum Boatbuilders?10 Oct 2003 23:53 GMT3
I am thinking of having my bare aluminum sailboat hull built by a
shop.  If my time can be better spent making money paying them may be
best.  Anyone have tips, suggestions, or experience with any builders
that do aluminum?  I am looking for yards in North America only.
Clark Craft - Bass Boat 1610 Oct 2003 14:22 GMT8
AS many of you know I have been looking at many different boat designs for
my first boat project.  I couldn't wait to complete project so I picked up a
Baker Twin Tunnel for fishing the local tournaments, but I still have the
bug to build a boat.
Applying flock10 Oct 2003 03:12 GMT5
anyone here with experience applying flock?  I am about to get hold of a
flocking unit but have never done it before.  I intend to apply the flock
fibres (electrostatically) while the fiberglass parts are still wet and in
the mold using the polyester resin as the glue.  Any problems ...
Composite sandwich bibliography10 Oct 2003 03:11 GMT1
After considering for a while building a boat in aluminium, and developing a
design about that which is currently frozen, I'd like to understand better
sandwich and composites construction.
Can you suggest any book about the matter possibly aimed at boat building?
