Chainplate pitting corrosion22 Nov 2003 21:05 GMT10
I am in the process of refitting a santana 22 that will be used on the
san francisco bay, and will be replacing the standing rigging.  The
upper and lower shrouds on each side attach to one chainplate.  This
chainplate is located about 18" inboard of the beam, passes through
solar charging of boat battery22 Nov 2003 10:37 GMT12
Since I'm new to the field of solar energy I've got a few questions:
We have a boat which is propulsed by an electric outboard. Of course
after a few hours the battery starts getting flat.
The idea is to mount some solar panels on the boat, but I have no idea
Big Pacemaker  info (going to need one)21 Nov 2003 18:07 GMT3
I'm seriously considering repatriating a 1980 66' Pacemaker back up
from Mexico. The boat needs ALOT of love from the sole up. The running
gear seems in order and the hull seems sound but the house got bumped
(?) in the aft quarter and things are a real mess in the non-business

I have looked at some pre-built ones but they are either not to my
liking or way too much money.

Outboard pod designs20 Nov 2003 22:23 GMT2
Does anyone know of any articles on the design of outboard pods?
That's what they call them in Australia.  I replaced the rotted out
transom and removed the old outboard well. I fitted a much smaller
well and intend to mount a pod to the transom for the outboard. This
Jamestown Dist bolt pictures20 Nov 2003 12:14 GMT4
I am curious how many of you noticed that many of the pictures in both the
complete and short version Jamestown Distributors catalogs show bolts and
screws with left handed threads.  Apparently some layout person wanted
certain objects facing the other way, and mirrored the image ...

Burglar-intrusion alarms for boats19 Nov 2003 20:58 GMT9
I'm looking for design ideas and components for an intrusion alarm for
the boat. A friend bought 2 IR xmit and 2 IR receiver units to mount
in the cockpit, but my thought is that irregular sunlight bouncing off
waves, etc is going to set this arrangement off.
