Prop selection09 Nov 2003 12:06 GMT3
OK, the engine arrives next week.  Everything is in readiness.  The
Aquadrive thrust bearing is in place and the shaft and coupling are on
but I find I have some extra shaft aft of the strut.  It will be a
simple matter to pull the shaft, chop off a couple of inches and mill a

I've been planning on building a boat next spring but I now have a
friend with a cottage so my plan to build a canoe may turn into
building something that sails.
I've done some preliminary investigation and I like the 'Norwegian
Wanted - Composite boat builder07 Nov 2003 19:29 GMT4
We have moulds, tooling and process layouts and orders for 6 boats, we
just need someone to build them. These are 30' long racing rowing
boats designed to go on the sea, we've built the first one and it's
been a huge success being an improvment on everything else in the
??? Checkmate Predictor boat cover07 Nov 2003 17:44 GMT2
I've got a 1979 Checkmate Predictor that I want to keep in
the water, and am looking for a cover that's not so large that
the cover itself will be in the water. I believe I'd like to get one
made of poly/cotton fabric, with the motor cover attached.
Fuel tank frustration07 Nov 2003 06:23 GMT37
Working on my fuel system and am totally confused.  I have a tank
manufacturer here in town who is willing to build a couple of 5086
aluminum tanks for me for considerably less than the other tank makers I
have found. Naturally I want to check out his proposed specs against the
Full and fine ended hull07 Nov 2003 01:48 GMT5

Just curious, I've been searching and searching the internet for days, and
while I can find plenty of photographs, I'm looking for some drawings and/or
plans for WW2-era boats, in particular the T2 Tanker, Victory Ship, and
Liberty Ship, for a project.

Coating steel hulled houseboat???05 Nov 2003 20:40 GMT3
I've recently bought a steel hulled houseboat in an area I want to
move to, with the hopes of later selling it and getting one with an
aluminum hull. I got a great deal on it, but feel sure that the bottom
is in bad shape. The previous owner said it was pulled and inspected
Coating steel hulled houseboat (more)???05 Nov 2003 16:42 GMT1
Forgot to ask about the rusting from the inside out issue. It's a 1973 boat,
and almost surely a 1973 hull. It is very rusty inside, but no sign of leaking.
Is the inside rust a real big problem? I've only known people to refer to it
a couple of times--not all the time like rust ...
sail horsepower?05 Nov 2003 02:36 GMT21
Is there a formula relating boat sail area, wind speed, and
horsepower?
The best I can find at the public library are some ranges, ie
hp/sq ft of sail area = 0.015 @ 7-10 kt
