I'll install drain/s in my cockpit (my project it is 36' Spray with

According to ABYC standards 2" drain is required.
My question is what is better:
Flexible resin30 Dec 2003 23:55 GMT2
I'm looking for a resin which is flexible and has good fatigue resistance.
Something like they use in the construction of the soles of Birkenstock
sandals.  For those who don't know it, the soles are made of cork chips
which are bonded together with some kind of resin.  They don't ...
Through-hulls and Seacocks29 Dec 2003 14:53 GMT1
I have been changing the sanitation hoses on my boat, and I found that the
discharge seacock didn't have a ball in it(or any other means to stop the
flow of water). I did a bit of research and found out that my so called
seacock is in fact just a ball valve mounted on a threaded ...
Anchor Pulpit Construction29 Dec 2003 05:51 GMT32
I am looking into the option of custom building a teak anchor pulpit
for my 28 Cape Dory power boat.  I was wondering if anyone could help
me with some insight into the proper technique for doing this.
Any help would be appreciated!
Newbie restoration information question...28 Dec 2003 23:55 GMT3
I've been looking for a newsgruop that deals with restoration or that
type of information.  I have located a 26 foot Ventnor made in Egg
Harbor, ME that is in excellant condition, but needs a lot of help.

Making an Inflatable Boat28 Dec 2003 05:13 GMT5
Does anyone know of any books or resources for making inflatable boats?
More specifically, I'm interested in creating something using that
technology that's not a boat (or furniture for that matter).  Manufacturers
or products used in the construction also would help me get started.
Using laminated veneer?27 Dec 2003 13:30 GMT12
I would like to build a dinghy or small sailboat using the cold-molded
plywood method, sometimes called laminated veneer.
I have looked a couple of books (Ruel Parker's and Hub Miller), but their
emphasis seems to be on large yachts. Since I want to make a small boat,

Ping Pong Balls26 Dec 2003 14:34 GMT42
Bear with me for a second.
I have been hearing about people using ping pong balls for floatation.
However, I can't find anyone who has actually done it.
It makes sense in that it will allow water to flow and not trap water in
Exhaust conversion to thru-hull25 Dec 2003 15:58 GMT2
I have a boat fitted Mercruiser I/O 5.0 V8/ Alpha I with the usual exhaust
manifold->thru prop setup.  This is operated in saltwater and typically the
shutters, exhaust manifolds and elbows and exhaust pipe give way about every
3 years.  This is quite a big ticket, especially with ...
Helpful broken tap hint.25 Dec 2003 13:49 GMT10
This is not directly boat building related but I thought it might come
in handy for a very frustrating situation that you may encounter.  I was
tapping some holes for #6 screws this weekend in a piece of aluminum
that I had spend some time machining. I was on the 8th of 8 holes ...
Anyone want an apprentice for free?23 Dec 2003 18:45 GMT15
Is there anyone in the Tampa area who would be willing to teach me how to
build wooden boats with them hands-on?  Individual or business?
I've wanted to know the principles of building a wooden boat for 2 years,
but just can't get it out of a book.  I've got an idea for a boat ...
What is best Christmas present for an avid boat admirer?23 Dec 2003 10:06 GMT19
My name is David.
I am 16 years old and I want to know what to get my father for
Christmas (who is a nut when it comes to boats).  He has built many
boats in his time.  First he ever built was a Sunfish 14' with his
Propeller efficiency question (electric)23 Dec 2003 04:39 GMT4
I am doing a project that involves using a small electric motor to
power a small boat. Basically, my question involves the propeller
design. I have read that more efficiency can be realized by utilyzing
a lower rpm and a larger propeller. However, a large propeller is out
