FTL Perkins wizard wanted23 Jan 2004 23:38 GMT1
I'm going to do a survey on a suspect 4-154, but don't live anywhere near
FTL, so doing my own on-the-ground legwork is challenging.
Does anyone have a Perkins maven they'd recommend for an engine survey in
the FTL area?

Spraying Gelcoats "how to"23 Jan 2004 01:07 GMT2
I have a gravity fed spray gun which I use with spray putty. It has a
2.8 mm fluid nozzle. I was going to try and use it to spray some
"Gelcoat" but thought I should ask first - will this work. I thought
the nozzle size still might be to small. Hoe is a spray gun for use

project planning example22 Jan 2004 00:10 GMT8
I loaded a copy of MS Project onto my computer, input some tasks for a
small boatbuilding project, captured some screen images, and put them in
files on my website as an illustration of what a project managment program
does. The files show the list of tasks and the critical path ...

Varnishing Cabin Sole20 Jan 2004 17:17 GMT3
Does anyone have any suggestions for a better way to re-varnish the cabin
sole to by 28 foot sailboat. It's the standard teak and holly sole.Every 2
years like clockwork, I have to strip off the old varnish and put on the new
stuff. It's driving me crazy. Is there something better ...
Help!  Want to build small nesting sailboat.20 Jan 2004 15:32 GMT5
Hubby, with no real boatbuilding experience (if you don't count the
styrofoam liveaboard sailboat we built years ago...aptly named "Holy
Mackeral"!) is thinking of trying his hand at boat building.  We want
a very light 2 to 3 person sailboat to carry upright on a cargo
Trolling motor size?20 Jan 2004 13:49 GMT1
Once again I have a question so I come here to the experts.  I'm trying to
decide what size trolling motor I'll need at the very least.  I have a 16
foot boat that wieghs about 1000 lbs with the outboard.  I'll be mainly
using it in backwater canals in Florida and have to deal with ...
chopper gun and epoxy20 Jan 2004 06:52 GMT4
Anyone know of a method to use a chopper gun and epoxy.  Is a copper
gun made that works for epoxy?
I thought it might be a good way to apply a barrier layer to a FRP
hull.
How thick to make the fairing? & vaccum bagging a hull19 Jan 2004 22:12 GMT12
On average, how thick is the putty fairing layer over the mat on a
strip planked hull? I guess it may depend on whether vacuum bags were
used (that's a question too - what's the general consensus on vacuum
bagging a hull?; what are the gains 'cos it looks like loads of

Ping Pong Balls - Conclusion19 Jan 2004 16:02 GMT15
Here are my conclusions regarding that long thread I started about using
Ping Pong Balls for floatation..
Ping Pong balls are not cost effective. $20/144
PPB burn real nice.
Pete Cullers Plans - Mystic Seaport19 Jan 2004 13:17 GMT5
Roger,
The 'Research Area' never is 'open' as such. And asking one of the
docents probably won't get you anywhere, either. If you go to the
'office' {actually off the Seaport 'grounds'} and state you purpose . .
