Single person boat built out of two liter bottles17 Jan 2004 04:17 GMT24
I want to build a boat out of two liter soda bottles.
Why?  Why not?  I can make the time and the space to do it and it's
something I've wanted to do for a while.
I've looked on the web, but haven't found any sites on doing something
Nuther idea for 2-liter bottle boat16 Jan 2004 19:57 GMT1
A poster above suggested thinking of the 2-liter bottles as other than
a flotation force.
I agree.  What about cutting off the top and bottom, then cutting
down the length to create a plastic rectangle (albeit one that wants
Considering putting in tile.16 Jan 2004 03:57 GMT5
I was wanting to replace the carpet in my Express Cruiser with some tile. It
has a fiberglass flooring under the carpet that the carpet is glued to. It
can easily be pulled up. I was wanting to go to Home Depot and get some tile
and tile that area. I would be surprised to find that ...
New Poster - Rules?15 Jan 2004 22:09 GMT5
This is the first time I have been to this newsgroup.  What are the rules
regarding mentioning ("advertising") of boatbuilding-related services?  I
don't want to offend anyone.

Surveyors (in general)15 Jan 2004 04:31 GMT2
Well, I've (on several Sailnet lists) gotten nothing but positive feedback
about the only two surveyors I've known about in FL, Pete Brown, and Rick
Shelley.  In Pete's case, for a 46' boat, it's $19 a foot, including
climbing and inspecting masthead and attachments along with the ...

Which Tool for Relieving Bulkhead ?14 Jan 2004 17:57 GMT15
Imagine a freshly cut-out plywood bulhead lying horizontaly on a table
before you.  The bulkhead will be attached to, or installed into the
fiberglass hull using 'bonding angles' i.e., several layers of 'glass
/ epoxy that will lap onto both the bulkhead and hull.  I'd like to
Redmond Whisp14 Jan 2004 17:42 GMT5
I have had Tim hill's book on my shelves for some years and am, at last,
heading towards the point where I can actually build a sharpie.  It is to be
as light as possible so that it will be used, but large enough for the whole
family.  Redmond's Whisp looks ideal weighing just 68lbs ...
Islander 3614 Jan 2004 06:50 GMT1
I have an I36 who's sea berth has been removed.  Does anybody have the
drawing so I can add the berth into the boat?  Or does anyone have any
advice or help concerning I36 sea berths?
Career change, boat building?13 Jan 2004 21:18 GMT5
I've been completely disgusted (and mostly burned out) with the
computer industry lately. I've been programming for 15 years and for
the sake of my sanity, I've been considering jobs in other fields.
Maybe carpentry or maybe even boat building.  The problem is, I have
roll on bed liner on fiberglass13 Jan 2004 15:36 GMT4
Have any  of you used roll on bed liner to finish the floor of a fiberglass
boat. I'm looking for an easy to clean durable surface for the inside of my
small fiberglass fishing boat. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,  demamcc@verizon.net
Steam Bending Plywood13 Jan 2004 15:16 GMT16
Well I tried to bend 6mm plywood around my buck (As described in a
previous thread), and after steaming it for almost an hour, got
absolutely no where. As I can not find 2mm or 3mm okoume any where
locally, and shipping it seems pretty prohibitive ($50.00 packaging
