Trying to learn what type engine I've got in houseboat29 Feb 2004 00:01 GMT6
I have recently bought a 1968 Lazy Days, 43' aluminum hull
houseboat. I haven't been able to learn what year or size
the engine is. What I do know is that it's a Crusader, Charger
series, 250 h.p. V8, distributor in the rear, serial # 13050. A

Has anyone here ever carved a dugout canoe?
I have several large white pine logs that I'm thinking of attacking
just for the fun of it.
Any suggestions on procedure would be welcome.
Thru Hull Question27 Feb 2004 17:47 GMT1
I am replacing a thruhull that was coupled to a properly backed,
bedded and bolted flanged base seacock.
Question: Do I cut the thruhull exactly to length plus 1/16" so that
it butts to the inside shoulder and leaves a room for a thin pillow of
formica trim finish technique.27 Feb 2004 11:49 GMT3
About the only formica work I have done has always had lee rail or edge over
it.
I'm building a drop leaf cabin table that will have a formica top with teak
rails around it.. No problem there. The table top base material is 3/4" ply.

what is the ferrocement builder's "Bible" ?27 Feb 2004 09:37 GMT4
I have been admiring Bob Griffith's boat Awahnee, a 53' cutter for some
time and would like to find out how exactly it was built and what is now
regarded as a proper ferrocement construction regimen.
Does anyone know if the ABS, Lloyds or anyone else, has now established

Anyone have any experience or views about applying a
urethane clear coat over a new enamel or urethane paint
job? Sort of like the clear coat on a car.

Just thought i'd recommend a site, needed a replacement BMC 1500, found a
site that sells very good reconditioned engines. Looks like they are based
up in norfolk somewhere.

removing non slip deck paint24 Feb 2004 18:14 GMT8
This is being a real pain, on a ridged fiberglass deck there is some
anti-slip paint that I cant get off even with sanding as this will flatten
the ridges.
GRP safe paint stripper doesnt work either.

Logo contest!24 Feb 2004 06:03 GMT11
Well, we're rounding third in our quest to step aboard and cut the lines.
Minor details remain to be dealt with, but one which had bedeviled us until
today is now resolved.
That's the name of our boat.  There's more background than you'll want to
