clamps15 Feb 2004 03:00 GMT24
It always happens. You are right in the middle of a project and you find
out that you are short on clamps. So what do you do? You try to figure
out some sort of jerry rig with bailing wire and duct tape to get the
job done.
Zinc metal sparay paint14 Feb 2004 00:41 GMT4
Would this be worth spraying on the shafts, props and rudders?
I saw this at HD, Zinc galvanizing coating in a spray paint can.
It is $5 per can.
Since it is zinc and cheap It could not hurt right?

Strip Wood12 Feb 2004 18:45 GMT7
I am in the process of building an Aleut Baidarka sea kayak. I got the plans

Epoxy v. Poly12 Feb 2004 14:05 GMT5

Normal poly can NOT be vacuumed due to residual styrene.
Murray Winch Bearings11 Feb 2004 08:17 GMT3
I've been trying to track down a North American source for murray
winch parts.  There's a fellow in NZ who can get the parts, but that's
a lot of shipping, particularly since what I really need is the
bearings (pawls and springs can wait), and I'm pretty sure these are

canvas and Butinox, a proprietory paint coating with a rough surface.
It isn't watertight and water is penetrating beneath the paint/canvas
layer.  I'm considering stripping down to the wood and sealing with

Well, the reality approaches, and while I have a pretty well equipped
landside tools and spares selection ("Dad's hardware store"), I'm curious
what those who have done it would suggest.
It's a 46 foot ketch with a Perkins 4-154 and a Northern Lights 8kw genset,
