Plywood Kayak22 Sep 2004 01:48 GMT3
Anyone have a suggestion for a plywood kayak able to carry about 250
lbs and around 12 ft long?  I'd rather it not be 'stitch and glue' or
strip plank (I know, I'm old fashioned). Incidentally, I came across a
kayak plan in an old book called "The Boy Mechanic" published from
Raw Water Pump Priming20 Sep 2004 22:14 GMT6
On the installation of a fresh pair of marine engines how do you prime the
raw water pumps.  Each engine has a Sherwood (G7 I believe) with 1 1/4"
inlet/outlet.  The boat is currently out of the water as we are finishing a
long restoration process.  I have a garden hose with the ...

Ahoy, I'm new to the fiberglass routine. I wanted to cut my 24oz WR

but when I cut it the weave it all comes apart. I count't find any
ready made strip in this size. Is there a technique to stitch it up

My questions:
Epoxy Syringe19 Sep 2004 13:32 GMT10
I've read that people use a syringe to inject epoxy into holes.  What type
of syringe is suited for this task, and where can I find one?  I suppose
they are cheap enough to just dispose after use?  Thanks

free boat?18 Sep 2004 17:23 GMT4
I have a 37 foot tri-cabin, 1967 vintage that looks like a hurricane
survivor (or loss). My problem is I have meerley been babysitting the
boat for ten years since insurance loss made it avaiable for me. I got
the boat from two gentlemen that were going to cut it up for table tops.
Wood Flour17 Sep 2004 16:24 GMT2
Why is it that I can find wood flour in 50lb bags from various
produces for two to three dollars per bag, but all the boating supply
houses want $5.00 a pound....? just ruminating...
Size of motor well17 Sep 2004 15:01 GMT5
I am building a boat and wonder about the size of the
motor well. I am intending to use a 35Hp outboard long shaft.
How wide, deep and long is suitable for the motorwell?

Reinell 18' found in a field.16 Sep 2004 16:26 GMT4
Hello All, we have just rescued a beautiful boat (Reinell 18') from a
sheep field, and despite 12 years lying in said field it is still
(surprisingly) in remarkably good condition.
After several skiing seasons with the other boat (Fletcher 14' with
Attaching an engine to an outdrive with a torque tube.15 Sep 2004 13:07 GMT5
I am building a 18" barrelback runabout.  Instaed of the standard
straight-shaft inboard drive, I am considering a modified I/O setup.
I would purchase a used Mercuiser 3.0L I/O.  The engine would be
installed in the center of the boat as is normal for this type of boat

FS rough sawn teak.15 Sep 2004 02:09 GMT2
I am getting out of the trade and have over 5,000 bf of rough sawn teak,
mostly 4/4", 8-14 inches wide, 8-14 feet long.
If anyone has an idea where I can get rid of this at $5.50/ BF in one
lump, I will gladly pay a referral fee.
Confusion: Epoxy or polyester?14 Sep 2004 22:46 GMT9
Once again I need to draw on the wisdom of this group hoping for an
explanation or clarification. I posted earlier regarding the repair of an
impact hole in a fiberglass sailboat hull. I'm using the Don Casey boook
