the market of nautic material. Anybody can offer anything and it isn´t
necessary to stop its use. This allows to invigorate the market and to
renew it more easily.
fiberglass restoration29 Nov 2004 21:00 GMT4
I'm restoring a wreck of a boat, my first project. It is a 21' Romany
Fisherman from Engand, circa 1960's, powered by a 4-107 Perkins
diesel. The boat has a certain Tonka toy look to it, like a caricature
of a larger tug-like boat. Anyway, I have lots of questions but I will
Hydraulic Drive29 Nov 2004 20:04 GMT2
Has anyone considered using the hydraulics from a pot hauler or deck
crane as a hydrostatic drive? I'll be using it on a 15 ton double ender.
Stringer design29 Nov 2004 15:07 GMT3
I am having to replace the stringers on my 22' Glastron.  The question I
have is when I pulled the foam out from between the stringers it was
completly water-logged.  When I put the new stringers in would it be a good
idea to have a hole in each compartment for water drainage?  Are, ...
Composites29 Nov 2004 15:03 GMT2
Anybody doing any backyard boats using composites instead of wood?  If so,
where are you getting your composites or are you making them?
The reason I ask is that I own several boats, and I don't care what people
say about how great wood is it has rot problems.  In my climate we get

prop shaft in fresh water? The one on mine looks original(20+ years)
and still appears 99% intact.

Kayak End Pour-  rudder mount question28 Nov 2004 18:31 GMT3
I have an old fiberglass tandem kayak that needs a rudder.  The top
and bottom were attached with a flat external seam.  The top is
somewhat peaked and not flat. I cannot tell it the ends were poured
because of foam flotation that has been installed.  The stern has a
How the @#$%! do you get a dust mask to seal?27 Nov 2004 03:38 GMT16
I'm building an s&g pram, and I don't particularly like the idea of
filtering out the 'glass sanding dust with my lungs. I have one of
those big, cumbersome masks with interchangeable elements, but it gets
in the way of my glasses, and I'm less inclined to sand through the
Interiors27 Nov 2004 03:07 GMT4
I am redoing the interior of a 69 houseboat and am wondering if there are
any materials I should stay away from (because of the environment,
durability etc). For example I would like to use a dropped ceiling using the
fiberglass panels rather than the (card)board type. Cut them in ...
Trojan Sea Raider update from Donny.26 Nov 2004 14:01 GMT4
Well, we did it! All of the new Honey teak is applied, and I gotta
say, it looks like furniture! Almost too pretty to walk on, *almost*.
Here's a link to her website showing the new album. We spent a lot of
time restoring this old lake classic. My four boys were veritable
"Heatshield" - More reefer (well, insulation) questions26 Nov 2004 03:11 GMT33
One of my respondents to my question about vacuum panels is very high on
"Heat Shield" (www.heatshieldmarine.com) - a mostly radiant barrier, to my
expectations, but their claim is that in conjunction with foam, it has the
effect of tripling the foam R value.
Fairing/leveling chines25 Nov 2004 22:13 GMT4
Hello, I've built a Ken Hankinson design LaPaz22 in 24', in my haste
and lack of a good belt sander my reverse chines/strakes have som
serious "roller coastering" any suggestions on what to use to build u
low spots, they are epoxied on so i'm doomed.
NAV/ANC Switch 85' Bayliner Wiring Question24 Nov 2004 22:00 GMT5
Recently I purchased a project boat and had to rewire from bow to stern.
The only problem I ran into was the nav/anc SPDT ON/OFF/ON switch has a
wire soldered between the two load pins on top.  The wiring configuration
for the switch wasn't easy to figure out had to use a ...
painting my 2-paw-924 Nov 2004 12:27 GMT9
I am almost ready to paint my nesting 2-paw-9 dinghy but am not sure
how.  I have not put the coat of epoxy over the wood and am wondering
if I should just color the epoxy.  If I put the epoxy on first, what
kind of paint should I use?
Calling reefer upgraders with VIP experience24 Nov 2004 01:32 GMT6
I'm in the insulation phase of my icebox conversion to reefer and freezer.
Achieving a meaningful R value, while still retaining any interior space (a
prior 19cf icebox is laid out to become a 6cf reefer and 2.6cf freezer by
adding 2" and 4" to the 2" of expanded polystyrene already ...
