| 36 or 48 Volt Marine systems? | 19 Dec 2004 20:12 GMT | 3 |
How common are 36 or 48 volt systems in marine use? Is there some specific safety rule? I want to make and sell an LED lighting system that gets much easier to assemble and operate at these higher voltages.

I'm looking for some boat plans for a small (18-24 feet) sailboat. Something I can sail by myself but is strong enough to take on short blue water trips. It should sleep 4. Plywood construction. I've found some plans for boats which would work. One extra fancy one

| teak resin | 17 Dec 2004 17:55 GMT | 4 |
Would anyone have a suggestion for cleaning off/keeping off teak resin from bandsaw blades? I am having to clear the gum off daily and presently using 'easy off' oven cleaner. It works, but takes a good half hour a day.

| Spar varnish or epoxy encapsulation | 16 Dec 2004 18:44 GMT | 20 |
I'm constructing a 10" tunnel hull and am at the point where I need to seal/finish the interior of the hull before putting the decking on. The boat is not going to be left out in the elements or used in saltwater but will be stored indoors when not used.

| anchor, bow roller system question | 16 Dec 2004 18:18 GMT | 4 |
I own a 1942 83 Ft. Wheeler (80 tons) and am rebuilding the anchor chain locker. My plans are to add a bow roller for the chain and to guide the anchors. Of course it has to be strong enough to handle the boat during heavy storms/hurricanes when boat is anchored out.

| Fair out the hull?? Meaning? | 13 Dec 2004 19:04 GMT | 4 |
What does / could it mean to "fair out" the hull of a wood boat? I assume that fair out means to sand it smoother? Sand it to take out any dips or bumps? But can that be right? Anyway, thanks.

| 18' Grumman Canoe sailing | 12 Dec 2004 17:36 GMT | 3 |
The other post about canoe sailing got me thinking. I grew up with a Grumman canoe and still consider canoeing to be as natural as riding a bike. Its an old 18' Grumman Aluminum flat bottom canoe, nearly indestructible. I always wanted to use it to explore salt marshes and

| LED's for running lights? | 12 Dec 2004 15:15 GMT | 25 |
Any info on this? The 12v single water clear led's are $1.67 and put out 11000 or 3300 mcd, whatever that is, some measure of how bright they are. The viewing angle is 30 or 60 degrees. The attraction is that current draw is almost nothing. I measured .023 amps for a single
