Repair of hole in plywood GP1413 Jan 2005 07:37 GMT3
I'm currently working on a rather neglected GP14 and wish to repair a
sizable hole towards the bow, close to the keel (see
http://xdev.net/~jon/pict1679-resized.jpg).  I've stripped back all the
rotten wood around the hole and am wondering how to proceed.

I plan to build a 8 x 16 ft. barge using 3/8 osb sheeting and covering it
inside and out with a spray on bed liner material. Any pro or con comments
would be appreciated.

I'm considering building my first wood boat along the lines of a 19'
barrelback possibly a Monaco or Rivera.  I've built an airplane in the
garage before, now a boat.
Does anyone have an estimate of what is the average cost of building,
Bottom Paint10 Jan 2005 11:33 GMT2
I just heard that a local guy mixes jalapeno powder and Roundup(tm) in
his bottom paint to prevent growth. He swears by it.
I thought this was a good one.

Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about installing an engine
15* different from prop. shaft. I'm hoping to drop the engine down
into the pilot house sole, so it's level. I'm considering "U" joints

How to get rowlock rubbers onto an oar?08 Jan 2005 02:41 GMT12
Does anyone know what to do to oar rubbers to get them onto an oar?
I've got this lovely, very practical full ring stainless rowlocks that
I want to use, but I'm going a bit spare trying to get the oar rubbers
on.  I've searched everywhere, does anyone know the secret?

Aerodux Glue - What is open time06 Jan 2005 23:37 GMT1
Have bought some Aerodux for laminating some teak but the specs don't say
how long you have for positioning once you have brought the parts together.
Deck Core Repair06 Jan 2005 03:44 GMT12
I have discovered that I have wet core in several locations on my
cabin top. My limited experience with fiber glass has been with West
System Epoxies and I am comfortable with their use. The bottom skin
has been removed, the wet core excised and the top skin abraded and

restoring wooden sailboat05 Jan 2005 17:33 GMT8
I am trying to restore a wooden gaff-rigged sloop. It is an 18ft. day sailer
with a shallow draft, relatively  flat bottomed planing hull and a large fin
keel, built in Holland in 1962. First I'd like to know if anyone recognizes the
description and can tell me something about the ...
Propane valves05 Jan 2005 15:58 GMT5
Well, as we get nearer to our departure, I find myself reading of some of
the adventures of folks trying to get propane in parts of the world not the
continental US.  That brings two questions.
First and foremost is the US current mandate not to fill tanks with the
