I'm considering buying a houseboat with a steel bottom. New steel was put on 4 years ago, and treated with coal tar epoxy, supposedly. I was told that the coal tar treatment will last for a long time. Can anyone tell me if the coal tar treatment is really good for a long time,

| help needed with matt paints! | 25 Feb 2005 23:50 GMT | 12 |
I was hoping that some of you may have a solution for me: I require a flat black paint for a fiberglass surface (gel coat). All the paints I have tried use flattening agents which scratch VERY easily. If you run a fingernail across the paint, you will leave a shiny streak where ...

| Best epoxy glue for wood mast construction? | 23 Feb 2005 20:09 GMT | 3 |
Due to the high clamping pressure required to use resorcinol glue, and the tight temperature control requirements, I am limited to using an epoxy type glue for the construction of a wooden mizzen mast. I have been told that there is a "flexible" epoxy - can anyone shed some light ...

I had a JRC 1000 on my first boat and now I am restoring a 43 Endeavour ketch and it is time to think about radars. The JRC was a nice unit but woefully underpowered. I would like to see out 8 to 10 miles with the radome mounted 20-30' up the mizzen. I know that the 4kw will ...
