Hello from Athens, Greece.
I am looking to purchase an Alura 35. I am attracted by its looks,

boat, no surveys, and furthermore, no testimonies.

Epoxy patching over polyester08 Feb 2005 08:32 GMT3
I'm embarking on a campaign to keep the water out of my 1950's boat's cabin
structure.  Original construction was plain timber framing, marine ply and
polyester/gelcoat over the top.  Rainwater has got in around windows, along
the edges of ply, and various fastenings, both ...
tsunami recovery08 Feb 2005 02:44 GMT2
I returned from Sri Lanka on Monday.  Yes, it has taken this long to wake up
enough from jet lag and the emotional drain of the trip to be able to catch
up on my fun groups.
The damage is every bit as bad as the TV made it out.  There are boats

12v wiper motor for auto pilot?06 Feb 2005 15:14 GMT1
Any ideas about what models might work? I assume these are used
because they can reverse direction with current. In any event I need

periods when there is no wind. I have a 12hp diesel. My boat uses
Refinish weathered phenolic?05 Feb 2005 09:06 GMT2
I have a couple of phenolic winches and blocks on the sailboat I am
refurbishing. They work just fine, but their surfaces are rough and
weathered. I am pretty sure they were originally smooth. Anyone know
anything about whether they can/should be refinished, and if so, with what?

Getting ready to start building a Core Sound 20, and thought I'd pulse
the system to see if off hand anyone knows of a good place to purchase
Okuome in Central PA. This is not exactly boatbuilding central up here,
but thought I'd ask.

to prevent rust on uncoated mild steel [no oil/grease] while winter stored ?03 Feb 2005 16:17 GMT4
I have some items of mild steel that are to be welded and painted come
Summer and want to store them in a shed and prevent further oxidation
during that period.
Someone suggested Goop but even though it might wash away well, I'm

I need to coat the inside of an aluminum pontoon with zinc chromate, in
order to do this it must be thinned. What solvent can be used to thin

Anyone know about where the center of rotation is on a full keel power cruiser or sailboat?02 Feb 2005 16:15 GMT3
Does anyone know about where from bow to stern the center of rotation
is on a full keel power cruiser or sailboat?
I've heard it's as far forward as 1/3 from the bow....my boat behaves
differently. I'm interested in what the architects think, particularly.
Mast foot problem01 Feb 2005 17:43 GMT11
I have unstepped the mast on my Coronado 25 and noticed that the mast foot
is flat in the fore and aft direction, but the tabernacle is stepped down
about 1/16" at the middle of the footprint of the foot. Anyone know why this
is? Was there originally a spacer of
