| epoxy/varnish/poly ? | 12 Jun 2005 00:05 GMT | 11 |
I am close to finishing a 50's style runabout and considering what is the best finish to put on the teak decking. It has to stand up over the years and retain that classic runabout gloss look with as little maintenance as can be reasonably expected. I am considering 3 coats of ...

I have several places on my boat where the gelcoat has come off from pulling it up on the beach and I was going to use epoxy to repair. I have a gelcoat repair kit that has several color tubes and I was wondering if I could use these color tubes to tint the epoxy. I have

| Diesel drivetrain conversion | 11 Jun 2005 17:45 GMT | 5 |
I am starting a project - Atkin-style tunnel stern, of welded aluminum. I have been offered a Datsun pick-up truck with (I think) an SD22 diesel - widely used in forklifts, IH Scouts, and some boats. The truck has been immobile for a few years, but ran ok when it was parked. I ...

| Doel-Fin or ??? | 11 Jun 2005 05:52 GMT | 9 |
My son has a 14' light weight wooden skiff that is designed to be a compromise between good rowing and good motoring. The bottom of the boat has a bit of rocker to it, but not nearly so much as a drift boat. Regardless, it points it's bow up nice and high when underway with our ...

| WTB in usa - bronze nav lights? | 10 Jun 2005 20:18 GMT | 1 |
I'm not so hot with the search engine anymore. A Canadian co. called Rekord seems to be the only source for bronze and glass nav lights left on the planet. I live in Wa state. Also, they seem to be almost $50 each for the 3 inch or so tall model. Any leads for Washington

| Old epoxy--somewhat OT (but it's an epoxy question) | 05 Jun 2005 15:45 GMT | 10 |
I have a glue up to do that requires epoxy. I have some old stuff (West Syst.)--both resin and hardener--that was purchased way more than 5 years ago. I know how to get rid of the crystallisation from the resin and have used the stuff from time to time on non-critical ...

| What to build | 03 Jun 2005 22:58 GMT | 4 |
I am now looking to build a power boat in the 16-18' range. It should be reasonably easy for someone who has built 3 smaller boats to build in a reasonable length of time. What I would like is a boat suitable for rivers, lakes and near coast putzing around with my family. I

| How long curing time for Epoxy before priming and bottom paint | 03 Jun 2005 14:00 GMT | 10 |
I am building a boat and am soon ready to put primer and bottom paint on the hull. How long should the Epoxy cure before I put on the primer and the bottom paint? I am using SP-System 106 Epoxy with fast hardener. ( My project can be seen here: http://www.oddgeirkvien.com/baat )

| Sunfish conversion to duckboat/sneakboat | 02 Jun 2005 11:41 GMT | 1 |
I have recently acquired a used 14' sunfish sailboat- while looking at it one afternoon, it dawned on me that this boat might make a good duckboat!!! I envisioned a small electric trolling motor, enlarge the passenger compartment,etc....

| Repairing steel tanks? | 01 Jun 2005 12:59 GMT | 4 |
Hello, all. I have a steel hulled cruising boat, presently in NL. The ship is eight years old. The fresh water filters are filling with flakes of rust, suggesting that the epoxy coating of the tanks has failed, and
