stringer problems??07 Jul 2005 16:28 GMT1
If anyone has any comments on this, please fire away (with blanks though).
I have a 40 ft 1969 Drifter. The two main stringers (16" deep) running off
centre the length of the boat, certainly appear to have problems. The glass
applied to the stringer is buldged out from the stringer ...

Test launch of my boat06 Jul 2005 14:19 GMT3
I had a test launch of my boat on last Saturday.
Most of it went fine, except of a breakdown of the old engine
I bought (it was cheap). The weather was nice and after some
time we was towed back to the launch platform by some friendly
cleaning an anodized aluminum mast?06 Jul 2005 12:53 GMT13
It's a gold colored matt finish. I think it's called anodizing but has
a faded stripe pattern of wear I'd like to restore if it's possible.
It's horizontal and all the way up the mast. Thanks for any info you
may have.
keel bolts06 Jul 2005 09:28 GMT24
I recently hauled my boat and after few days I noticed allarming
coloured streaks oozing out of the thin crack (very thin and of little
concern by itself) between the keel and the hull.
The colour of the streaks is green-blueish, something that suggests
OSS transom bevels05 Jul 2005 23:20 GMT2
I am a rank beginner attempting Herb McLeod's one sheet skiff. I
believe I've got the angles for the stem and frame figured out, but I'm
a little puzzled by the transom bevels given in the plans. The plans
say "Bevel on side 13 degrees" and "Bevel to bottom 18 degrees". I can
Couple questions about canoes05 Jul 2005 20:05 GMT5
Hi, I just bought a fibreglass canoe (13.5') and had a couple of
questions.
The first one is this, the boat right now has a beautiful paint job,
and you always see canoes scratched up on the bottom from beaching,

I have changed out the plugs, and took each plug out and put it up

looks good, but I have a miss.  where do I need to look next?
Oversizing mortice for inlaid hardware?04 Jul 2005 23:06 GMT2
I am main=ing up the CNC codes to inlay the hatch latches.  I am going to
cut the below deck sole hatches to fit exactly but I am wondering what the
normal practice is for cockpit lockers and swim platform hatches.  Should I
cut them for an exact fit or allow about 1/8" around ...
Older Wood Skiff Crafts04 Jul 2005 14:56 GMT1
Hi Boaters,

heating epoxy drum without a drum heater?04 Jul 2005 03:50 GMT9
My drum of epoxy has partially crystallized - blame a cold
spring.  Any suggestions on how to warm up ~200 lbs of epoxy
+ drum short of purchasing a drum heater??
I've thought of just painting it black and leaving it in the
Fiberglass patch problem...any solutions?03 Jul 2005 22:03 GMT12
This is my first shot at a fiberglass repair and it didn't go quite as
smoothly as it showed in the book. I'm stumped about what to do next and
hope someone on this group has either done the same thing or can tell me how
to fix this.

my system anymore.
Every link I've tried to NACA4GEN comes back with page not found error...
Seems Harold has moved.

Not sure if I have the right term, I have always known them as granny bars.
I would like to buy / make / have made a pair of guard rails to sit either
side of the mast. I'd appreciate any thoughts on height, tubes, materials
size, how far away from the mast they should be and any ...
