| My God, She Likes it. | 22 Oct 2005 20:45 GMT | 3 |
I was very worried about how to tell my wife I was building the Tolman Skiff but I had a pic of one on the Alaska Inside Passage as computer wallpaper. She saw it and asked about it and I told her that was what I was building. Since the Inside Passage (via cruise ship) is

| Paint-on foam? | 22 Oct 2005 00:17 GMT | 3 |
The deckhead in my boat is fiberglass and condenses water readily. I would like to clad it in a thin layer of foam to prevent this, to add a modicum of insulation, and to assist with sound deadening. Does anyone know of a paint-on foam product that could be used to create a more ...

| Lever Powered Propulsion part II | 19 Oct 2005 20:14 GMT | 1 |
Why I need a lever powered propeller - It is fun to stand up high and sight cast for fish. I am working on a design for a casting platform. Something small for ponds that don't need a 200 HP bass boat, just the nose.

| Lever powered propellor | 18 Oct 2005 08:46 GMT | 5 |
For a small fishing boat I need info on a propulsion system based on a hand powered propeller / outboard drive system. No gas motor, just human power. Seems there used to be something that was similar to an out board that had nothing but perhaps a few bevel gears and a ...

| How do boat lifts work? | 17 Oct 2005 14:24 GMT | 7 |
How do the boat lifts that use air work? If they have a check valve to let water out the bottom when they force air in, how do they let the water back in to sink it? I thought maybe a solenoid valve, but don't see any wires running to the float

| Archive of lines?? | 17 Oct 2005 11:50 GMT | 5 |
--Anyone know of a central archive of boat lines? I'm *still* trying to find something better than the one or two photos of the type of vessel I want to build (semi-planing wave piercing monohull), but I've come up dry..

| Anybody tried glueing cast aluminum parts together with epoxy? | 16 Oct 2005 19:35 GMT | 23 |
My outboard, 20hp Honda, jumped off my transom yesterday and hit the pavement at 20-25mph. No critical damage but knocked a gapping hole, the size of a golf ball, in the cast aluminum lower pan, the one below the power head, next to the tiller handle. Fortunately, I have the

| simple diesel engine question | 15 Oct 2005 16:38 GMT | 4 |
A friend bought a boat that had a diesel set in the boat, but not hooked up. The motor was very stiff so I pulled the injectors, put in penetrating oil, turned her by hand the next day, then on the starter and she loosened up alot; but little fuel came out of the

| Clearance on cabinetwork? | 15 Oct 2005 00:24 GMT | 7 |
Just put the finishing touches on the forward stateroom. The last thing was a 6 drawer stack. Stainless full extention slides with push-pull latches. Perfectly aligned with an even 1/32" clearance around all the drawer faces. As I was admiring my work I suddenly remembered that ...

| Chinese Junk Sails and can you identify this boat? | 14 Oct 2005 16:23 GMT | 3 |
I am restoring an old steel boat, 32ft. steel double ender, similar to the Tahitiana, but with one chine. All measurements are equal to the Tahitiana set of plans, which I have, but for the one chine. The title says the boat was built in 1950, which seems very old, and
