It all went fine, a few modifications needs to be done next spring, some
sanding and a few more layers of PU-lacque.
Oil Change Pump13 Oct 2005 23:14 GMT15
I am trying to find an oil change pump; after
a total disaster with one from an auto parts
store (it just didn't pump, only sucked in air
through the numerous cheap hose adapters), I am
Checking of plywood, what about birch plywood ?13 Oct 2005 22:17 GMT10
We all knows that pine plywood do check, but what about birch plywood?
The birch plywood found in local home depot here in Norway is usualy in
very good quality and might be a very attractive alternative to use for
building material. It is somewhat heavy, but it is very strong, ...
Resin Injection into soft wood13 Oct 2005 21:15 GMT43
I have been reading about a process of restoring rotten wood by soaking
resin into the wood making it as good as new or better.
Are there other options for replacing rotten ribs and frames other than
traditional sawed or steam bent?  (from the inside)
How to Choose the Right Used Boat to Fix It Up?12 Oct 2005 18:11 GMT14
I am planning to get a 18-ft used boat at low cost and fit it up. I
would like to see what kind of used boats are considered as "good
enough" for a DIY fix-it-up.
The kind of used boats that I am looking for:
Need Books on Repairing Fiberglass Hull12 Oct 2005 17:38 GMT5
I would like to get some recommendation on books / videos / web sites
that focus on doing major repairs on fiberglass boats.
I want to learn what are involved in making major repair on fiberglass
boats to see if these are something that I can do in free time.

witch is better west or the system 3 ?

Chainplates: 3M5200 v Silaprene11 Oct 2005 17:05 GMT8
Any thoughts on this.
Chainplates are a source of leaks and equal source of debate on how to
fix the leak.
Some people say use polysulfide because if you use 3M5200 you'll be
folding Evinrude11 Oct 2005 16:23 GMT2
I have a folding Evinrude complete with the suitcase that I have been
using since I was a kid back in 68.It still runs perfectly but I cannot
find any info on it like when did Evinrude start/stop making them.I
have no intention of selling it but was curious what it may be worth.
Boat Repair11 Oct 2005 14:42 GMT6
Is it realistic that a boatyard can not offer an estimate for the repair of
old wood boats with rotten wood?  What is the typical hourly rate for good
boat carpentry?  My boat is an 80 footer and is located mid-atlantic east
coast.
Hey Peggie / Group - LactraSan question10 Oct 2005 20:37 GMT3
Peggie / Gang:
Given that holding tanks and their attendant odors, pumpout hassles and
maintenance headaches are a real PItA, *why don't the manufacturers of
new yachts forgo them altogether* and install the LactraSan instead?
How do I tell my wife10 Oct 2005 07:16 GMT8
I just spent $1014 on marine ply for building a Tolman Skiff.  YIKES,
my other three boats cost very little so my wife was tolerant but I am
not sure how she will react now.
Flybridge removal?10 Oct 2005 04:55 GMT10
How tough would it be to remove the flybridge on a 30' Fales Carib?
Say this one:

Probably a stupid question but I love that boat but hate flybridges
using bunker fuel07 Oct 2005 17:26 GMT13
Howdy group,
All the yachtsmen I know who run a diesel use only 'diesel fuel', which
is light and expensive. However, in the merchant navy we use bunker
fuel whenever we're going to be running the engine for a long time,
Da$^$%# Luan and Garbage Glue06 Oct 2005 20:47 GMT23
#2 MiniCup developed a crack across the cockpit bottom where I had not
yet glassed it.  Turns out the crappy 1/4 luan (bathroom underlayment)
is giving way.  Removal of the paint reveals that the stuff is really
disintegrating.  The remaining Gorilla Glue is also disintegrating.  I
