I'd like to do a 1/4 scale model (of an Atkin design - Shoals Runner

using 1/2 inch ply for frames, with some kind of "plywood" for the hull
panels.  I hope to build a variation
Adding an electrical bilge pump04 Feb 2006 20:03 GMT18
I have a manual bilge pump in a Newport 27, and
would like to add an automatic electric one.
What is the easiest way to do this? Can I use
(at least some) of the hoses that the mechanical
Water exhaust04 Feb 2006 13:25 GMT3
I just recently obtained an old Evinrude 6 HP Fisherman outboard. Anyone
know where the cooling water is supposed to exit from this machine?
Thanks,

Powder Coat or Paint04 Feb 2006 05:15 GMT19
I am having an aluminum dodger built for my sailboat. I want it to be white
when it's finished.
The question is, should I have it powder coated or painted? Either is
possible, and not out of line for cost. I am looking for durability,
Washed Ashore--A 4'x8'x12" styrofoam block04 Feb 2006 05:13 GMT13
Talk about luck.  I had been contemplating the purchase of a 4x8 block
of styrofoam to build a working raft so that I could work on my hull.
Today I walked out to my dock and lo and behold there was a new piece
of styrofoam, just the size I intended to buy.  Now I would like to
Barrier coat03 Feb 2006 23:14 GMT2
I have a pump house sided with that Louisiana-Pacific type synthetic board,
and it is absorbing water everywhere there is a nail. Any comments about the

Prop Coating03 Feb 2006 13:34 GMT10
The guy I sail with is looking for a good slick coating for the folding
prop on his J-109 racing sailboat. The prop appears to be made of brass
or bronze, and gets a pretty good dose of hard marine growth during the
season here in the northeast. He has the bottom cleaned each ...
Bow Thruster03 Feb 2006 13:32 GMT1
I am looking at Bow Thrusters and struggling with which one.  Any and all
ideas appreciated?

Water Tank Replacement02 Feb 2006 22:22 GMT7
Well, I posted a query about acquiring a stainless water tank for my
Morgan OI 41.  The responders dissuaded me.  The price is simply
prohibitive.  Any one have suggestions for water tankage.  I can not
buy a ready-made tank as it is a really odd shape which fits against
Polyester02 Feb 2006 01:25 GMT18
I'm going to need to do some work with polyester and fiberglass. I
will probably be replacing the core in my deck with solid fiberglass.
I've previously only worked with epoxy. It seems that this should be
straightforward?
How can I tell if it is 316 or 304?01 Feb 2006 09:32 GMT10
I received two 7x15 stainless ports today. When I ordered them I was
assured they were  316 ss. So today I thought I would see if a magnet
would stick on one. The magnet stuck. When I called the supplier about
another issue I mentioned that my magnet was sticking to the 316 ss
