How hard is it to make my own canvas enclosure?  I'd like to try and make
side windows as well.  Any ideas or sites would be appreciated.  Thanks,

AC/Heat Pump20 Jun 2006 11:35 GMT2
I hear that some of the commercial boats use a residential unit and mount on
top of cabin with better success than marine grade heat pumps.
What brands are best for marine grade?  Is this a project that the average
boat owner can handle?
'Fridge/Icebox Pink or Blue Insulation - WTB?20 Jun 2006 02:04 GMT7
Seems like extruded polystyrere is the preferred (afordable) insulating
material for marine icebox / 'fridge / freezer applications. [The above
conclusion was heavily influenced by Glacier Bay's insultation test,
viewable here]:

Free Muni or other hotspot access from a sailboat??17 Jun 2006 13:48 GMT17
So, the world is migrating to free internet access.  Even the NYTimes,
today, has an article on the subject, saying, in effect, "It's not coming,
it's here!" (The first paragraph, in part: "No fewer than 300 cities and
towns around the nation have taken wireless Internet access, or ...
Making a rudder and dagger-board (newbie)17 Jun 2006 11:40 GMT22
Hi, all. I have the hull for a Snark Sunchaser and I am trying to turn
it back into a sailing boat. The foreman at my shop just sold me the
sail and spars for a Sunfish for $10.00 (!!!) that could be easily
adapted to the boat (I still need a mast - $85 from the factory). I
Lexan to Aluminum Adhesive?17 Jun 2006 06:53 GMT6
Now that Alreto is washing my decks it reminds me that I have a leak. I have
hatches that are an almuninum frame with lexan inserts. The lexan just fits
in from the top onto a 1/4" shelf. Silicone was used last and is leaking. I
would also like to secure the lexan better ethier ...

Has anyone found a good way to store their boats on a trailer?16 Jun 2006 16:53 GMT4
I have found a pretty smart looking company but have not seen too many
of their installations around.  Seems like a fairly new product but was
wondering if anyone had thoughts on these?

Steaming wood14 Jun 2006 21:43 GMT13
I need to make some porthole liners for a barge and I was thinking of
steaming some wood strips.  Size is approx 1.15m long - it is a 0.381m
diameter porthole - 60mm wide and 6 - 8 mm thick.  I was thinking of
using mahogany or similar dark hard wood.
TEKA Teak Cleaner - What is in it?13 Jun 2006 07:04 GMT17
Does anybody know the ingredients of TEKA A and B?
I am wondering a bucket of what I should have ready to
quickly rinse off / flush away spills of TEKA A when
cleaning trim. (Soapy water? Vinegar solution? Sth. else?),
help, my primer has pin-holes,..13 Jun 2006 01:56 GMT13
Still fixing my fixer-upper. I chiseled and sanded the crazing in the
gelcoat, then filled with several different things and the cracks are
covered ok but the tiny, tiny pin-holes will not fill. Many of these
looked like tiny black spots at first. Any attempt to fill them
