Teak shower grate:  Varhished or unfinished?30 Nov 2006 16:32 GMT9
I am seeking the wisdom of the group here...
I had occasion to strip the varnish off of our shower grate.  When I had
it down to bare wood, it looked pretty good.  Although it was finished
from the factory, I now wonder if that was only the request of the first
25ish foot coastal cruiser30 Nov 2006 06:54 GMT4
I am looking to build a cruiser around this size. I have had my eye on
the DiDi 26 by Dudley Dix for some time. It seems to be a good
construction technique, and produces very attractive results.
It has a fair amount of space too, the only thing that concerns me, is

The tops of my keel bolts, i.e. bolts and nuts, are covered by a solid
resin (I think) cylinder. It looks like someone put cardboard cylinder
around each and filled them with resin.
Is it normal practice to cover the keel bolts like this, or a
Fuel Polishing, in general29 Nov 2006 18:49 GMT15
As part of my trying to get smarter than I am (not hard!) about fuel
and oil issues, in the course of searching for info about the
oil-change-into-fuel-tank issue, I stumbled on discussions of fuel
polishing.

--I'm looking for an old outboard; preferably a 3-cylinder engine
*without* an overhead camshaft. I don't suppose anyone knows where I could
find such do they? And yes, I plan to convert it to steam, hehe.
Fuel Polisher as oil change device?22 Nov 2006 16:25 GMT8
This may have been covered in some distant past threads, but if so, I
don't recall the outcome of what most likely was conjecture rather than
petroleum engineering observation, in any event.
Thus...

I am toying with the idea of driving a bow thruster with a 3 phase AC
motor and wonder if any one else has any experience in this field.
I have a genset that is 1 and 3 phase and a sail drive leg already
fitted with a 3 blade 12" kaplan prop - not exactly sure of pitch but
