Best Aluminum for Boat Building...16 Nov 2006 06:48 GMT7
I am seriously interested in learning to weld aluminum.  In the interest of
future projects I fugured I would buy some scrap aluminum froma local metal
worker to practice on.  So...which alloys should I get.  These are for
freshwater projects, but a small bay boat or small skiff ...

Any Basic Lofting Books For Canoe?15 Nov 2006 00:02 GMT2
I'm looking for a source to learn real basic lofting to design a canoe.
I'll have to get my ideas onto stations to wood strip the boat.
Steel hull insulation12 Nov 2006 21:51 GMT8
I'm considering purchasing a small steel-hulled yacht, but she does not
have any insulation. I would imagine that the immediate problems in a
European summer will be excessive heat, condensation, and to a lesser
extent, noise. Retro-fitting insulation is an option, possibly in
Freeze protection for winter boat use10 Nov 2006 00:51 GMT1
Up to now I have always winterized by I/O by letting the engine pull
antifreeze in thru the cooling water intakes on the outdrive. I now
live on the lake and here in the Carolinas we have freezing temps in
the winter, but we also have nice days all winter long and I would like
Looking For A CAD Program To Design My Own Canoe09 Nov 2006 07:54 GMT4
Looking for any info on buying a inexpensive CAD program to desgn a
simple open canoe and to be able to print out diagrams for the
Stations. Max Surf is way to pricey.  The hull will be 19'x19" with bow
height of 17" and stern of 15". In it's final appearance I'm fitting it
Fuel tank baffle question08 Nov 2006 12:26 GMT12
I'm thinking about cutting a 5 inch diameter hole in my aluminum diesel tank
so I can get in there and scrub them front to back.
I suddenly realize there are baffles in there.
Does anyone know what the baffles look like?

Apelco (Raytheon) Fishfinder 46004 Nov 2006 22:48 GMT4
Well, after our 2.5 years ashore, along with several other instruments,
much to my disgust, this unit's display has gone Tango Uniform (along
with several of the buttons), with the LCD screen severely compromised
for viewing.  The transducer, of course, is virtually useless to
removing 1700lb engines; back yard04 Nov 2006 03:39 GMT9
I need to build a contraption to remove two large, old, heavy engines.
(1968 CC 427's).
The boat is on stands and there's no way I know of to get a boom up,
over and inside the wheelhouse.
1700 Lb Engines03 Nov 2006 23:55 GMT2
I suspect that the weight estimate you have is a vast over kill.  If you
disconnect the engines from the transmissions the engine weight should be in
the range of 350 pounds.
We have lifted 350 CID Chev engines with a single motorcycle tie down strap
Black Walnut bad luck?02 Nov 2006 16:26 GMT8
I have a large black walnut tree I am getting ready to have removed
from my yard.  I already have a solar kiln I use for drying wood for my
boat projects and I have been considering  lumbering it for use in boat
building, the wood itself seems like it would be great for boat

Colvic Springtide 2501 Nov 2006 16:51 GMT3
My boyfriend and I are in the throws of refurbishing the inside of a boat we
have aquired.  We've already stripped the inside and all we have to do is
sand down the inside now... the next step is to put everything back in but
nowhere can we find plans for our boat (Colvic ...
