| shortening thru hulls - follow up | 25 Aug 2007 17:22 GMT | 2 |
I asked about how you could cut a bronze thru hull to reduce the amount of blocking required inside the hull. Angle grinder with cut off wheel worked very smoothly (I use a grinder a lot and do have a smooth touch). Super easy to back off the nut.

| Removing 3 bladed prop on an Alberg 35 | 25 Aug 2007 16:38 GMT | 25 |
I bought an Indigo 3 bladed prop last week for my Alberg 35 with the original Atomic 4, as the existing prop succumbed to electrolysis I went down to the boat yesterday, worried that I might not be able to loosen the old hub's grip on the shaft. It was also a 3 bladed prop.

| Gelcoat vs.LP | 24 Aug 2007 00:25 GMT | 9 |
Folks, WRT that 35-year-old sweetheart that some of you were kind enough to post responses, I'm now considering re-gelling. The yard folks tell me that 2-part LP application has gotten so expensive that re-gelling hulls from the rail to somewhere below the waterline is a

| shortening thru hull fittings? | 23 Aug 2007 12:24 GMT | 4 |
I've got to put in some new thru hulls and of course the stem length of the fitting is about 3" long. The hull is ~3/4" thick, the portion that sits in the seacock is perhaps 1" which leaves 1-1/4" or so to be made up with backing pads. This is a bit excessive to me and ...

| Fenner Taper Lock Pulleys | 21 Aug 2007 19:52 GMT | 4 |
I am fitting 2 Fenner taper lock pulleys to a motor shaft and a saildrive shaft and I have the same problem on both of them. The grub screw side on the pulley is on the inside of the pulley - so when pushed home on the shafts the motor/saildrive prevents access with an

| home built tri's? | 14 Aug 2007 08:47 GMT | 2 |
what's the way to go for plans for home built tri's? Im after something in the 25-30 foot range, trailerable and hopefully light. It's only for two people and we dont have much gear to carry so if i can keep weight down with pre-made composite panels in place of ply, I think ...

| How to protect/seal a cedar deck overlay | 12 Aug 2007 00:57 GMT | 6 |
I'm building a 40 ft. ocean cruising ketch. My deck plan is to be Port Orford Cedar strips, (about 3/8 inch thick, vertical grain), epoxied onto a fiberglass sheathed epoxy subdeck. How would you treat the exposed wood to preserve it but maintain it's non-skid? I'm
