I've got a 1966 Hinckley Pilot with a 1978 Westerbeke 40 HP diesel that is probably on its last legs. Would much appreciate anyone's wisdom/experience on choosing a replacement diesel. My yard is recommending another Westerbeke but all the sailors I talk to say

Can anyone tell me how to polish raw stainless steel to get the nice shiny finish? I can get it up to a satin "brushed finish" with a belt sander, but I'd like to get it a bit nicer as its for my chainplates and bolted for all to see on a bulkhead. They are 316L btw, if that

I have asked a few questions recently about replacing my rudder and tiller on my Potter 15. For the moment I have found a piece of oak where the grain has the same curves as the old laminated/delaminated tiller. Used it today; worked fine

I am milling 16' lengths of western red cedar into strips for a jollyboat. This wood is fresh from the forest and is moist to touch. Can I have some opinions on what the surface moisture shld be before I epoxy and FG this stuff?
