We were told by our boatyard that our boat needs a new engine to replace a Westerbeke 40 hp. The yard gave us a preliminary estimate of $17,000. Seems a little high. What should we expect? Also, is Westerbeke the one to buy?

Can you use stainless steel wire mesh or nylon mesh to reinforce fiberglass? Has anyone ever tried doing so? I was thinking perhaps after pouring the resin, I lay the glass fibers

I'm rebuilding the Port Light on a Tartan 30. It consists of two aluminium bezels and a plexiglass "window". The two bezels are held together by barrel nuts and bolts, and overlap the coach sides and the plexiglass.
