| 3M 5200 Bottom | 28 Jun 2008 17:17 GMT | 4 |
I have frequently used 5200 to seal joints when restoring and building wood boats. Many ads for used boats state that the boat has a 5200 bottom.. I contacted 3M for information on the process and they replied that 5200 was used in many marine applications but they knew nothing of ...

I know absolutely nothing about fiberglassing, but would like to learn. I got some books from the library, but they were all written in the 60's and 70's, with 1 from 82. What I would really like is an up-to-date dvd, or series of

I have a steel plate that I want to protect from rust, permanently. I was told that the best way was to hot-dip galvanize it. I've searched high and low in a 50-mile radius (and then some) but can't find a place that will do it.

I have crossed the Gulf of Alaska 43 times. From Seattle to Dutch Harbor, and Seattle to King Cove. The scariest time was in a 50 foot Purse Seiner on its maiden voyage. It was just purchased by the Captain/Owner who I fished for that season in King Cove. Since I am

| Structural folds or creases - Aluminum | 10 Jun 2008 19:29 GMT | 6 |
I have been looking at aluminum boats for the last couple years now with an eye towards how they are built. I have noticed a lot of them will have 'V's folded or stamped into the hull along the length for strength. I don't see anyway that a backyard builder could do this ...

| Fixin the MiniCup spars | 08 Jun 2008 19:39 GMT | 6 |
The original plans for the MiniCup calls for a 1/4-20 u-bolt to join the gaff and boom so they can move relative to each other. Unfortunately, the boom's thin metal has torn (after 4 yrs of use) so the were going to separate. So, I got a piece of 2X4 and cut it to
