DIY Shrink Wrap30 Nov 2003 01:36 GMT4
A friend and I are thinking of investing in the Dr. Shrink kit and shrink
wrapping our Pearson 422's ourselves. (We have both been quoted $800 for the
job at our two yards.   It seems that we can do it for MUCH less than that
ourselves.)   I've seen demos and watched them do it at ...
Any Simex sextant owners out there?29 Nov 2003 23:14 GMT2
I just couldn't help myself.  I was ogling the bare belly of a
20-yr-old standing at the checkout counter of a local thrift shop whos
sweat pants, the only bottoms she had on, had slipped down her tanned
hips, and noticed in the display case under the cash register a nice
Low-end GPS29 Nov 2003 19:48 GMT11
At the Work Boat Show (Seattle) on Friday I was looking for a fixed mount GPS to
replace my beloved Micrologic Mariner which is showing some senility.  I found
the Garmin GPS 152 and the Furuno GP-32 and 37.  They'd probably do the job.
Thing is, though, neither of them has a ...

Espar Vs. Webasto Heaters28 Nov 2003 23:22 GMT6
I am interested in installing a Hydronic, (hot water) heating system aboard
a Tashiba 40 sailboat. Does anyone have any comments, recommendations or
warnings about the two leading brands, Espar and Webasto? Cost is about the
same and specifications are also very close. Webasto ...

Computerized gauges28 Nov 2003 13:34 GMT11
I've been wondering, what would be involved in having a computer interpret
and display gauge readings.
By this I mean something such as having a laptop receiving inputs from the
various gauge sending units such as oil pressure, engine temp etc. and then
Chrysler 26 keel box28 Nov 2003 11:29 GMT1
Any Chr 26 sailors out there, who have had the keel
break the box?
After several cable breaks when hitting rocks/sand banks
I had a serious leak from the keel box into the cabin.
RE: Calling all Binacle Compass Manufactures28 Nov 2003 04:09 GMT4
Just a point of information.
Please look into putting a small weatherproof LED screen, with a hook up for
a laptop computer, in the center of you compasses.
You'll sell a thousands of them to sailboat owners.
Power steering leak28 Nov 2003 03:23 GMT4
My boat has a 5.7 Volvo Penta engine (GM block) and I have a leak in the
power steering system that I cannot seem to find.  I can tell that it is
coming from somewhere on the pump itself but I do not think it is from any
of the connections.

boat hull Number and registration27 Nov 2003 02:13 GMT5
several years ago I purchased a sailboat at a us Marshall sale. I recieved
documents listing a manufacturer ( one off custom) which was the builders last
name and a hull number.  I registered the boat in my home state with the
numbers given.  Now after several years of a major refit ...
Flex-o-fold propellors27 Nov 2003 00:57 GMT3
I am seeking information about 3 blade Flex-O-Fold folding propellers in
sailboat installations.  My boat is a Pearson 40, Westebeke 4-107, direct
drive (1:1 reduction in forward) Paragon transmission connected to a 2:1
reduction V-Drive.  The reverse gear in the transmission has a ...
heavy duty kayak rack on 18 foot bayliner Capri26 Nov 2003 04:26 GMT1
I'd like to install a heavy duty (roof) rack on a my bayliner capri
18footer. The rack would have to be long enough and sturdy enough
(thinking 1" thick pipes) to allow me to carry an 70 lbs 12 foot long
kayak. Is this possible?  Who would make/install such a beast?
