overheating question30 Apr 2004 21:39 GMT9
OK, I am a new boat owner and am learning the hard way.  I am pretty
sure that I have fried the water impeller in the stern drive.  I have
an '81 Glastron SX-190 with a Mercruiser 228hp 305.  I didn't know,
until now, that the boat should never be started even for a few
Off the wall question:  Underwater plumb bob?30 Apr 2004 21:28 GMT13
I am going to test some anchors on our August trip to the BVI.  This is
the second test and I learned a lot on the first one about what to do to
make it more accurate.  To measure the set distance I need some means of
marking exactly the location that the anchor was dropped.  I ...

Looking for a funny mercury ad picture30 Apr 2004 15:27 GMT1
There was a picture used in the 60's in a Mercury ad.  It featured a guy on
an upside down dining room table planing along powered, of course, by a
Mercury outboard.  I have seen copies of this picture on the web, but cannot
find it anymore.

Our dodger is getting a bit porous and I have heard that 303 is the way to
go.
Anybody use the stuff?

Question about applying Cetol29 Apr 2004 12:42 GMT3
I've decided to use cetol on my teak. I've prepped and cleaned and
sanded and applied the first coat. Why does Cetol recommend NOT
sanding between coats?  Seems to me that the only way to get a smooth
buildup is to sand off the high spots between coats. Then again I'm an
Mediterannean charts29 Apr 2004 06:25 GMT1
I have about 100, mostly unrolled, charts of the Med which I bought
new 10 years ago.  Anyone interested?  No realsonable offer refused.
Will not sell individually.  All or nothing.
PocketMail29 Apr 2004 03:04 GMT5
Anybody had any experience with PocketMail?  Is it still around? Where can you
get one?
Thanks,
Bob

Wilmington-New Bern Trip Report - Was NC Charts Wilmington to New Bern28 Apr 2004 00:19 GMT15
Well I just completed my first big "trip", in which I spent more than
an afternoon or evening sailing a charted course through more than one
zip code.
I must say I truly loved it, and think I'm never going to be able to
Reusable rigging wire terminals besides Stalok, Norseman?27 Apr 2004 15:43 GMT13

Finding electrolysis at the dock27 Apr 2004 06:10 GMT22
Our marina has a problem at some slips with stray current. Some of the
boats are loosing zincs at a fast rate while others are not. Looking
for some help in trying to resolve this and what kind of equipment
will I need. Thanks. Chuck
Need a new 2-4 hp outboard - must be 2 stroke - what's available outside California27 Apr 2004 04:05 GMT14
My 4 hp Suzuki isn't worth fixing anymore. I want to buy a new 2-3-4
hp 2 stroke - but CA has banned new 2 strokes - only 4 stroke anymore.
What's available in Oregon or Arizona?
Removing teak oil from interior veneer prior to varnishing it27 Apr 2004 01:13 GMT4
I wondering if any of you have ever had to remove teak oil from
interior veneers.  I recently bought a Sceptre 41 with an oiled
interior.  Much of it is in good shape and I will be able to varnish
right over the oil.  However, some parts have experienced local
Antifreeze Type?27 Apr 2004 00:17 GMT7
I'm in the middle of changing the antifreeze in my Yanmar 2GM20FC engines and am
curious if I should change type.
I've been using Ethylene Glycol, following the advice of a Yanmar mechanic who
said using Propylene Glycol would void my warranty.   I've never been able to
