| Seaworthiness of Mac26 | 30 May 2004 19:34 GMT | 57 |
Granted the Mac26 is not an offshore boat, but what can she do? One poster said he would not take one out of sight of land so lets consider this. First, most boat accidents happen within sight of land because thats

| Old diesel fuel - two questions | 30 May 2004 13:15 GMT | 2 |
How long is diesel fuel supposed to last in a tank before it causes problems in injectors? I ran through two full tanks of diesel in 1999 and topped off at the end of the season. But, I then went through a period where my trips (Hawaii and Alaska) were on other people's boats

| Unconditionally stable sailboats | 29 May 2004 14:53 GMT | 84 |
My, my, my but the things one can learn on a usenet group. Just recently I learned that cruising catamaran sailboats are unconditionally stable, that is stable under any and all conditions. That is incredibly good news, for once yacht designers find this out, once boat

| Windsurfer Sails for Sailboat | 29 May 2004 02:21 GMT | 4 |
I am thinking of getting a rowing pram dinghy and adding sail capability. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using a windsurfer rig it would be nice to get a two-fer, if possible. I am also thinking of a leeboard for lateral stability.

| Offshore Sailing Advice | 29 May 2004 00:41 GMT | 18 |
Need some advice on safety equipment for sailing a little offshore. Our plan is to charter a boat and sail out of New York for about 200 miles than come back. The idea is to gain some offshore experience but without taking too much risk.

| Trysail Track Installation | 28 May 2004 15:24 GMT | 11 |
I am adding a trysail track to my Catalina 38. The mast has an internal track for the main, and I'm adding an external track for the trysail. I have noticed that most of the tracks I've looked at extend down

| BVI Chartering | 28 May 2004 13:41 GMT | 2 |
I suspect there may be a better site for information, but we haven't done the BVI charter thing since 1997, so are looking for updated info about the area. We have a group taking a Moorings 47 in late Dec 04 for 8 days, so have been seeking info re current recommendations re ...

| Cruise to Princess Louisa Inlet | 27 May 2004 17:05 GMT | 12 |
Just came back from a short/long trip to Princess Louisa Inlet. Short in "elapsed time" (4 days), long in how we felt after the trip: it was like being in Desolation Sound for 3 weeks. My Lady, James and myself headed out in Far Cove with her almost-broken-in

| Light RIBs | 27 May 2004 13:34 GMT | 1 |
I am looking to get a lightweight inflatable for fishing and general tooling around. It will mostly be just me, so I would like something light. I am considering the Apex A-8 light and AB Aria 255, both of which are under 60 lbs, and I am open to inflatable floor boats that

| Sailing Cuba | 26 May 2004 16:18 GMT | 98 |
Just read the new US Decree forbidding sailing to Cuba in Cruising World Magazine. I am speechless, astounded, stunted, amazed, pissed-off... the arrogance, the gall, the pretensions, the abuse of American citizens rights, the abuse

| Designing a log / maintenance schedule | 26 May 2004 11:53 GMT | 4 |
I am not new to sailing, but am to yacht ownership. There must be somebody who has had some good ideas on designing the layout of their log and or maintenance schedules, and/or other lists, and who would be prepared to share /proud to share / happy to learn by sharing their

| Source for Sailboat Specifications | 26 May 2004 02:42 GMT | 3 |
We plan to do spend several months each year traveling rivers, lakes and canals. An 800 mile five week trip last summer on our old Venture 25 has us actively searching for a more roomy, trailerable motor sailer. I'm wasting hours trying to find information about boats that I find ...
