Holding the holding tank31 May 2005 20:31 GMT14
I just discovered that the poly holding tank in our boat is secured
(or was until the screws pulled out) with galvanized steel strapping.
Gawd, the former owner loved the stuff, it's even holding up the
exhaust hose line.
The $81 miniature plastic box fan...31 May 2005 16:03 GMT10
I was in Waste Marine scavenging for electrical and plumbing parts for a
friend's sloop, yesterday.  Inside the front door on top of the overpriced,
no-name, Waste Marine TC-W3, there was this little plastic box fan about
12" wide/tall plugged into a deep cycle battery in a black ...
Pedophilia on my mind.31 May 2005 05:45 GMT3
You know, Capt. Neal is right again. I read peophilia into just
about everything I read. I'm gonna go get help right away before I
start acting out on my desires. I can't believe I've been obsessing
for over six years over posts that arouse my prurient interest.
Holding tank material30 May 2005 22:05 GMT1
I just realized that the plastic holding tank in our boat, which was
not intended as a holding tank judging by the molded in fitting
arrangement, is yellowish and not the milk jug color.  It's about the
color of a manila folder but translucent.

Just returned from a one week to the San Juan Islands, where we moored at
various WA State buoys. These are basically designed with with a black
rubber tire around the flotation part - in order to "protect" the hull from
impact/bumping damage. In some cases the tire has been ...

Older Marine Head Question29 May 2005 01:12 GMT2
I have a 72 Trojan that has a factory head with water line and mace
pump. The original configuration had the waste water dumping to the
water thru a valve. At some point the previous owner instead rerouted
the waste AFTER the pump to 2 5 gal bucket holding tanks that must be

chart software28 May 2005 19:24 GMT7
I have been looking for a chart plotting application that I can run on my
laptop, attached to my garmin gps.  I've heard good things about the Capt'n.
I was also interested in Fugawi 3 because it can be used with land-based
maps as well as marine charts.  The product description ...
Pay for what you've already been taxed for.28 May 2005 12:27 GMT42
This has been mentioned here before but the following that I received
is a good summary with contact info to make your voice heard.
For all the talk about tax cuts and the political capital the repubs
get from them, this kind of arrangement where we users end up paying
Was I nuts?28 May 2005 05:01 GMT5
I just put a full fuse panel in our boat which made somebody say that
they now knew I was nuts.
Why?
I don't trust the 24 year old breaker switches.  The labels have all

I got my bilge pump controller put together and it looks pretty neat.
It will fit right under the fuse panel I put in and the relay can be
easily pulled and replace.
I tested it and my portable 12 V battery immediately gave the "Tink"
Cost of Diesel in USA28 May 2005 04:42 GMT10
Would someone please give me an idea of the cost to boatees of diesel
fuel in either US gallons or litres?
It would be great if someone could also give me an idea of the same in
the Caribbean - I realise that it must vary from place to place.
